4 ★Still the best home automation, smart home devices & AI interface. However like others am finding I perhaps need best of both & need to have two companies giving me services that work better on both. We need to be able to change the wake word, we need decent music access back with access to our OWN MUSIC LIBRARIES back. I want to happily join the BETA & help make a difference to shape the app for future. Google needs to listen to its users otherwise they will start to fall behind others.
1 ★Completely useless when trying to control music - when it can even understand the song or artist it says "playing in YouTube music" but nothing happens. Repeating "play X", "open YouTube music", "play X on YouTube music" will maybe one time in 20 work successfully, but usually only silence or the song that was already playing continues. This is with YouTube premium, smart unlock set for Bluetooth device so phone should not be locked (not that it should need to be unlocked for music commands!)
4 ★I just fixed it. GOOGLE ITSELF somehow had been disabled! I couldn't have done it because I didn't even know that existed, or how to find it until I followed a link in a help topic . It was supposed to send me to "Assistant Settings", but kept sending me to the actual Google App page in Google Playstore, then I noticed Google had been disabled. 🤯🙈 NO IDEA how that happened.
1 ★Zero stars, last year this was one of my favorite utilities, now it doesn't do even the simplest things correctly and it's so sad and disappointing that a tech giant as big as Google can't get their voice assistant to work properly. Lots and lots of reviews complaining about the same thing and yet no change. I honestly regret updating my google assistant. You have just one star so that i can post this review.
4 ★Try powering your phone off to solve the following issue... Can't open the app from the icon or the shortcut on the search bar. It won't open with voice. It appears to be listening for a command when I squeeze my phone but there's no visual feedback of it hearing anything. It did open when I selected a suggestion from a notification but it did nothing.
5 ★Edit: They fixed my phone when I left a bad review again! "Hey google" stopped working unless you manually open the screen yesterday. Today "Hey Google" stopped working in general. Anytime I turn back on voice match it toggles back off. I had the same issue on June 9th 2020 when I got my new phone(Samsung Galaxy S20+). Why is history repeating itself? Hopefully the dev team fixes this soon.
1 ★This assistant was absolutely brilliant for ages, but all of a sudden every time I try to use it with my car Bluetooth or Galaxy Buds+, both of which have worked perfectly, if the screen is locked it just says "first you need to open the notification, then you can use assistant with your headset". It does this every time I try, even if I lock the screen immediately after clicking the notification. Also, the voice for assistant keeps changing between American and British accents. Useless now
5 ★The app used to let me say "hey google" and it would open. Now I have to hold a damn home button? Really, whats the point. Edit: Back to 5 stars as with the helpful link, which didn't work but found it doing a Google search instead, it works like it should. For that I thank the person who helped me.
1 ★I've been google assistant for a long time, over several devices. It was stopped working in the last week. Will not respond to voice (which I have retrained) or open app (which I have un installed and reinstalled). Extremely frustrated since the assistant was my primary reason for purchasing a Google pixel 4 XL, instead of Samsung or LG which I've had in the past.
1 ★All my troubles began when it stopped beeping to let you know it was listening. And now it doesn't even work. I say hey google/ok google and it works MAYBE once a day and then it says Google is not available at the moment. I talked to someone with Google support and they were not able to fix so I guess now I just can't use it which really disappoints me because it was great before and now it's unusable.
2 ★"Can't reach Google at the moment" most of the time I try to search anything. Same thing with Google search, it shows offline. It is a global problem with OnePlus Nord. Other than that I dislike the fact that it's always listening and it gives you a indirect messed up answer when you try to ask it. Atleast, admit what you're doing.
4 ★Yeah, I'm with everyone else these days. The toggle to turn on app on my phone resets to off every time. This is a fresh OS install (for totally separate issue) of an galaxy s9. Interestingly (not sure if applicable) there are no app permissions? I've reinstalled the app, reset my assistant history, retrained the voice... All my other devices work just fine. It's the app on this phone. UPDATE: I was able to fix - something maybe with notifications on Google search? 🤷 I dunno. At least it works!
