誦讀地藏經之益處:
1.孕婦懷孕期或新生兒出生後七天中，誠心為他讀 地藏經及唸地藏名號，就能幫他增福消災。如果他是來世受苦的，命中的殃報都可解脫，變得安樂易養。假如是來世受福的人，他的福壽還會增長。(參見：如來讚歎品第六)
2.遠疾病、衣食豐足：每逢「十齋日」(農曆每月的1、8、14、15、18、23、24、28、29，30日)中持齋、拜佛、誦一遍地藏經，就能遠離疾病，衣食富足(如來讚嘆品第六)
3.令往生者投生善道：家人臨命終時 ，神識惛昧無法辨別善惡，乃至眼耳更無見聞。此時若能設大供養，並且為家人誦讀地藏經，念佛菩薩名號。此功德即能令亡者能夠遠離諸惡道，投生善道或天道享福，諸魔鬼神悉皆退散。(利益存亡品第七)
4.不如意事逐漸消滅：家中衣食不足﹐或突然出很多不好的事，或造成眷屬分散，念地藏菩薩名號萬遍及禮拜地藏菩薩像萬遍，各種不如意的事就能漸漸消減。(見聞利益品第十二)
5.遠行 可保平安：須經山林河海 等危險地方時，誠心念地藏菩薩名號萬遍即可保平安。(見聞利益品第十二)
6.獲得學習智慧：無法專心讀大乘經典 時，恭敬誦讀地藏經請菩薩幫忙即可獲得智慧。(見聞利益品第十二)
7.闔家平安無災：住處放置地藏經及地藏菩薩像，且能勸告別人也誦讀此經者，則地藏菩薩日夜以神力護衛，水火盜賊等不論大小，一切惡事都不會發生。(地神護法品第十一)
8.佛說二十八種利益；六道眾生 ：天人、神鬼、娑婆眾生護持《地藏經》皆得利益。(囑累人天品第十三)
