Description
『生命線』是一個國際性的電話心理輔導機構，藉著全日 24小時的電話守候，致力於自殺防治。1963年由亞蘭沃可博士(Sir. Rev. Dr. Alan Walker) 以「自殺防治及助人解決生命中各種困難」為宗旨，首創於澳洲雪梨。1969年「生命線」正式在台灣創設，當時於馬偕醫院裡設立「自殺防治中心」，以方便輔導自殺急診之病患，並於同年7月脫離醫院成立「生命線」，正式對外輔導協談。在本會的領導之下，目前台灣有23個生命線協會，分佈在台灣各地進行助人救人的工作。以「千里一線牽，幫助在耳邊」 (Help is as Close as the Telephone) 為服務標語，並藉由全天候24小時的電話諮商輔導，致力於自殺防治，促進全人發展與國民心理衛生、心理健康為宗旨。生命線志工日以繼夜的守候著〈1995〉協談電話，給予意志消沈之人勇氣，協助心靈創傷之人重獲新生，以著支持、陪伴甚至及時危機處理的積極態度服務社會大眾，除此之外，更積極推動深入社區或校園宣導生命教育，以被動化主動，走向積極防治工作，期望讓社會減少自殺悲劇。
