Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

5 ★love the app and love tyt, however there is one annoyance with this app. it happens when I'm listening it in the background, whether its video or podcast, it will sign me out, for no apparent reason and I have to constantly log back in. pls. fix this because I drive a lot while listening to the show, and its annoying to pull over and log in. thanks love tyt
3 ★The content is top notch, so I highly recommend TYT on the web and other media, such as Pluto. However, the app itself is not well conceived. It forces the device into portrait mode, and video is landscape, so be ready to switch around a lot. Also, you can't cast archive video to roku or smart TV, so you're stuck watching that on the small screen. Also, video playback features are primitive compared to polished apps like youtube. Also, you can't comment from within the app even as a member.
2 ★Disappointing.. The app constantly crashes. If i need to pause the show, when i come back later ready to listen again, it did not hold my place in the podcast. This happens even if i download it (actually especially so). I'm probably going to go back to my regular podcast app, therefore, cancelling the membership, bc i don't get the extra episodes on there, which is why i downloaded it in the first place.
2 ★The app is not coded for Android TV even though its best viewed on a big screen. I like TYT and am a member but watching on a phone/tablet is not the best experience. Casting to the TV is an option but a native Android TV app should have been implemented first. Also, it does not remember where you were in playback, so if you have to minimize the app to do something else (e.g. check email or take a call), it takes you all the way back to the beginning. Finally, the app still sends notifications even well all notifications have been turned off.
5 ★If you're a member of TYT this app is gold. I use it a minimum of 3 hours a day and can say it is great, with any issues disappearing with every new update (EX: in the past it didn't save your watch progress when exiting a video, and now it does and I love it). If you are an avid watcher of news and like to stay updated on current events (and let's be honest, online, independent media is the only way to get honest and ethically delivered news today), this app is an absolute must have.
4 ★Content is great...but it is so frustrating having to keep finding your place in the video if you get a call or alert as the video restarts itself. Also, you can't use it in split screen. The audio doesn't continue if you go to the home screen. It would be great if it was similar to YouTube in the the small screen would remain on top of what you were doing and continue to play. Or at least save my place in the video after I get a call.
5 ★As a member I hoped to find an easy way to listen to the show. If I pause it for a moment 45 minutes in I can't unpause, both from streaming and downloaded content. The only solution seems to be to restart the show and skip ahead using +15 second button. My alternative solution is to let the app download the latest shows that I want and choose how many to keep, and then give access to other apps such as Google Play, so that I can enjoy the content without getting frustrated and not disappointed
2 ★No access to youtube, very laggy video. When I try to watch it in the background it stops. I recommend the YouTube membership. This review will be updated if fixed. but I'm about to cancel my producer level membership. Tried to watch the damage report and I cannot finish 1 40ish minute video in the 2 or 3 days I've had membership. I'm still trying to play as I write this. Pretty upset. It's not my internet connection I can watch youtube and other content no problem. I love TYT. fix this please.
5 ★This is my most used app. Any issue with the app is quickly resolved in an update, and the developers are clearly listening to what the people want. I am thrilled about the download to play later option, and thank you guys for splitting it into segments as well. My data is saved, and I can watch at downtimes at work now. I love the Young Turks, and I'm proud to be a member!
1 ★I was happy that TYT came up with an app. After using it for a while, I gave it a 2 star rating, because the app was terrible. kept crashing, logging out, going to sleep... All in all - making following the shows a miserable experience. I figured those were the usual bugs at the start of the process and would be fixed. Had to lower that to 1 star, because nothing has been fixed, things have actually gotten worse. And the support guys aren't too helpful either. Still hoping. Cmon TYT. Be better!
5 ★I love it! The only issues I have is occasional buffering but that's a WiFi issue or I'm too close to the microwave. I found TYT bouncing around YouTube. I stopped watching mainstream news years ago and I've always been a progressive. I am a member and supporter of TYT. I listen to and or watch everyday. The Damage Report is one of my favorites as well as The Conversation. Let's face it, I'm hooked. I grew up in the Sixties when the country was as divided as it is today. I was never satisfied with the end result and I hope we get it right this time. I trust the news TYT presents. Honest and in depth. The last news broadcaster I trusted was Walter Cronkite. I'm a 71 year old Vietnam veteran and was a war protester. I'm young at heart and again feel empowered again. Thank you TYT.
2 ★It's great that the app now keeps track of position in played shows. Thanks. Playback is affected by the app asking you to log in way too often, sometimes in the middle of an episode. This is especially a problem when there is no network connection and the app beomes useless. Even downloaded episodes stop when network connection gets disrupted. What's is the point of downloading then?!?
