인종과 이념 그리고 국경을 초월해서 누구에게나 친밀하게 다가갈 수 있는 스포츠를 매개체로 ‘땅 끝까지 복음을 전파하라’ 하신 주님의 지상명령을 수행하고자 체육선교에 뜻을 같이하는 사명자들과 일반성도들이 함께 모여 1976년 5월 21일 복음적이며, 초교파적인 선교기관으로 창립되었다.복음을 거부하는 회교권, 공산권 국가에서도 직접 또는 간접적으로 복음을 전파해 왔으며 현재는 올림픽, 태권도, 생활체육, 교육(사관학교)선교위원회를 운영하며 훈련된 전문 스포츠선교사들을 양성, 파송하여 효과적으로 세계선교의 사명을 감당해 가고 있다.
향후 올림픽이나 월드컵과 같은 할렐루야컵 대회를 개최하여 세계스포츠 선교발전의 교두보 역할을 할 수 있도록 계획하고 있다.
