2006年に連載30周年を迎え、『週刊少年ジャンプ』誌上で「こち亀30周年企画」が行われた。その後も2007年には連載通算1,500回、2009年には1,600回、2011年には1,700回、2013年には1,800回、2015年には1,900回を突破した。
2016年に連載40周年を迎え、それを記念した「こち亀40周年企画」が行われた。
