5 ★Easy to use for the first time, clear instructions and procedure.
5 ★Love Car Next Door & the app is user friendly and easy to understand for collecting and returning your vehicle - walks you through the hiring process and makes the whole process easy. I did find it a bit clunky for finding and hiring a vehicle and ended up using my laptop for that. Needs to be able to minimise the search area too - ie if you're searching for a car but want to limit the location to say 5kms radius only. All in all love this service and giving it 5 stars.
3 ★The calendars on the mobile sign-up form NEED fixing. They cause the entire form to freeze, making it unusable. I tried multiple times without success. I ended up waiting for ~15 mins after which the form became responsive and I was able to finish signing up. After posting this review, I unexpectedly got a support call from Blake, who was awesome. He helped me to complete the process overall, answering all other questions I had. It was much appreciated! I've increased my rating due to this.
1 ★I've booked a car 3 months in advance, and it was cancelled 2 days before the trip. Then, all stressed out on Christmas day, I had to search for another car. Of course, it was much more expensive than the previous one and much further the first one. So I had to pay for a taxi to pick up and return the car. The car photos uploading is a nightmare, I've waisted hours and hours trying to upload the photos and dealing with support. Ended up being charged almost twice as any rental company would.
1 ★Replaced the old cars next door app whilst I was mid trip. Deleted the old app without me doing anything. When I found the new app it logged me out multiple times. Didn't respond to buttons. Made me late finish because the app crashed more than 10 times while trying to take photos and go through finishing process. Trash in comparison to the old app, and horrendous that it put a sour end to a great time away. Really questioning whether to use the app again if these things aren't fixed.
5 ★I've borrowed a few cars now and the pick-up/drop-off process via the app is always really well sorted. It integrates well with Google Maps so it's easy to find the car and takes you through what to do step-by-step (e.g. take photos, enter access code, etc.) Easy to find the billing details of your recent trips and info like what type of fuel you should use. I do prefer to book via the website as I find it's easier to browse available cars and I once had an issue with selecting different pick-up and drop-off dates (would only allow same day). My one gripe is that the in-app camera app doesn't give you the same control as the native app (e.g. wide-angle lens, night mode). Note on roadside assistance outside of VIC: their account is with RACV so RACV have to call their partner in your state (e.g. NRMA, RACQ) which extends the wait time significantly.
5 ★An incredible app. I used to work alongside the car next door and they are such an amazing team. The app is why I'm leaving the review. It took the stress out of moving day and it's like they thought of every scenario to help the user out (I accidentally forgot to lock the car and the help centre was so intuitive). Keep up the great work guys.
1 ★I miss Car Next Door :( App keeps timing out, keeps resetting when taking photos. Couldn't connect to the car to unlock it even though troubleshooted and all the settings were correct. Owners can't help anymore. Stood out in the rain for 45 mins trying to pick up a car because the app wouldn't work properly and chat with support team keeps disconnecting. Very frustrating experience, unreliable & costs have increased without any comms. Poor experience, really disappointing. Uber has ruined it.
2 ★The old app was much easier/user friendly. The process takes far too long, especially when taking condition photos, add new photo button is too small, asks you every time you add a new photo if its from camera or library, sometimes photos wont load so have to repeat the process, also had the app log me out just as my trip is about to start, also should have a clear date button on the home screen when searching for cars. Very disappointing.
2 ★My Car Next Door experience was far less than ideal. The car was incorrectly labeled with regards to the type of petrol it took. These mistakes were also in the app, making the experience more confusing. I picked the car up and it was completely empty. Then with the petrol confusion, ended up being very late for the appointment for which I hired the car. CND support were not helpful when it came to finding a solution or an alternative vehicle. I was luckily saved by owner of the car returning my call to clear up the confusion and get me on my way. Other than that the app is very easy to use, as it the pickup and drop-off of the vehicle.
5 ★Fairly easy to set up & use. Cars I used were neat, easy to find & comfortable to drive. Only negative is that the exact pick-up location address is provided only 15 minutes before trip start time. If you intend to travel to a suburb by train & then walk to the pickup location, you'll have to depend on Google maps or other such service.
2 ★Currently unable to use this app on a OnePlus 5T phone. Is painstakingly slow and will not load different features properly. Have had a good experience until this point but can't currently use it. Needs to be updated for some android devices. UPDATE: Still having difficulty with searching cars and setting a search address. It is still very slow and I get a force close message. Oddly, once I have selected a car it seems to work more smoothly but each time I enter the app afresh, it is still slow. I'm using the most up to date app.
