作者简介
约翰·班扬是英国文学史上名词的小说家和散文家。他1628年生在英国，父亲是一个补锅匠。由于家境拮据，班扬所受教育有限。他少年时加入克伦威尔的军队，从军生涯是他一生的转捩点。班扬在军队中听浸礼派时道，并对“圣经”和马丁·路德的著作刻苦钻研。1660年，英国的王政复辟后，班扬因为代表大多数贫同利益传教，而与当时政权和官方宗教发生冲突，当局借口未经许可传教，将其逮捕，此后他被囚禁长达12年之久。
