1 ★Update: once again a week later after having my word count reset as a PAID USER I have reached my limit on "HD words". Was told to just message support everytime to have my word count reset. Yes. There is a limit on use even if you paid for the year subscription. ------- Nothing like paying for a service, the annual premium service, and then being told you use the service too much so now you have to use the free version.
2 ★The idea of text to speech is great, but this app needs some work. The speed is poor, and despite changing it, I had trouble understanding it. Also, the read back is rather robotic in nature. It needs some expression and voice intonation to make it sound understandable. Great idea, but not quite there yet.
3 ★great app overall. few areas need improvement. the visual experience of the doc that's being read has some issues zooming and scrolling. no ability to skip reading it charts and diagrams and sometimes difficult to place the start of the reading point at a specific word. otherwise great app
4 ★This app has been great for editing the flow of my writing. The variety of voices to choose from is great. My only complaint is that, occasionally, the app reads sentences as unearthly screeching instead of words. Cliff's voice does it the most, which sucks because I like his voice the best.
3 ★It's a great idea for an app. Problem is that even though designed well I had a 5 hour long study for my ap history class saved because my adhd doesn't let me sit down and read 100 pages of something I don't like. Well, it deleted it. And on top of that, there is only one free voice on the app and isn't even understandable because it has an extremely thick French or Spanish accent. So um make there at least one of every dialect free and understandable and dont delete stuff with no user consent
1 ★I've been using speechify for about a year now, about 50% of the time the app doesn't work. I can listen okay on my browser but the moment I want to listen to anything on my phone it refuses to play. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still doesn't work. Anytime I get tempted to get the premium option for more downloads I remember that I can't even listen to my documents on my phone which is what I would be doing most of the time. Don't pay for this
4 ★UPDATE: The app had a glitch were it dropped all my HD voices and kept stating that I ran out of HD voices until next month. Restarting, reinstalling, and signing in did not work. I had to sign in and out twice before it worked. Brought my review to a 3, only because of the price and periodic voice glitches. ******""*" The price is not worth it since they limit your monthly premium voice.
1 ★It was working find when I made my account. Now, all of a sudden, when I scan my book to start reading. It doesn't want to work, and it changed my voice too. I can't even change it back. Really suck cause I was hoping yo use it since I can't talk right now due to larenjitis. Definitely deleting.
2 ★Okay, if it wasn't for such persistent, repetitive, and obnoxious notification 'reminders' (the sort that exist to compel you - reading between the lines..) to, "crush your goals". AKA; in order to do so, PAY UP. $100/yr subscription & 8.99 a month 😊... To the extent, I had to uninstall it. At least other apps serve ads INSIDE the app, and don't always ping your phone notifications.
1 ★Only nice feature i find is the ability to paste a website and have it be able to read it*. Bugs and issues galore. Reading freeze require resets. Reading wont pause frequently. Free voice choices disappear or swap names between each other. When free voices are seemly gone trying to select a premium voice get you slapped with pop-up asking to pay.
1 ★A lot of voice options, many of which are quite realistic, but it's skips words or sometimes even whole lines at a time, making it more confusing than helpful. Also, it just randomly pauses saying that "we've detected a poor connection, switching to your offline voice" and then that voice just refuses to start. And nothing about my connection changes and there should be no reason for that error message. I'm looking forward to new updates that address this issue and would otherwise go premium.
2 ★This app was AMAZING during my free trial before the newest update. Now (after I paid $139 for Premium when I had signed up at the advertised price of like $68) the app is the slowest one on my phone. I've had to scan my pages 3+ times in their entirety (Law text sets of roughly 25+ pages) and still icons won't load, it takes forever to "process" and it freezes and crashes. This app isn't worth the money if I have to waste time scanning/restarting instead of reading or listening. PLEASE FIX ASAP
