1 ★Won't connect. Just plain and simple won't connect.
1 ★Wow is this app bad. I read the other reviews and thought there was no way. But, I was wrong. Every 5 minutes it loses connectivity with the grill and it takes me 10 minutes to reconnect. I'm sitting 10 feet away from my grill and it still looses connectivity. Great when it's connected, but it's rarely evey connected.
1 ★I don't know if it's the app or the smoker that is the issue. I think it's the app as I didn't have the issue the couple times I used it before connecting. 1) Errors out if it's cold outside. Have to use a hair dryer or hot water to warm it up before it will work at all. 2) App always says the door is open, whether it's open or not. This message covers up the target temperature and time read outs. Basically, the app makes the smoker a brick.
2 ★The app does work somewhat well as long as your smoker has good signal. The app does need two major updates: 1) It should not disconnect on android when the phone screen turns off or you navigate away from the app. This renders all alarm features of the app meaningless. 2) There should be a way to set the alarm as an ALARM. With no option for custom notification sound and no way to override your phones notification volume by being an actual alarm even in the rare instance that an alarm goes off and your in the app you will likely never notice.The app should be using the alarm sound to trigger so it can truly be an alarm. Below is some minor bugs and features it could use (besides the 2 big ones above): -When it reaches you set point it says your 'null' temperature has been reached. So there is an error in the translation file. -No clear way to remove an alarm. Once my probe alarms I can clear it on the smoker and I can set a new one on the app but what about just clearing it now so there is no longer any alarm set on the probe? -App says "Time Remaining" even when using the count up setting so it should be smart enough to know when it is counting up and not down and label the field correctly. -Low temperature warning, it would be amazing to have a way for you to enable a low temp emergency warning so you can be alerted to your temps dropping below spec due to low fuel or something else. Either way your temps are out of range and if you do not currently have the lid open something must be wrong. -Logging, the data is already being sent to the app so let our phone log the data it gets so we can make graphs etc you can store in a CSV so we could export our cook. I understand not doing this on your cloud servers due to costs but our phones can do this data logging at no additional cost to Masterbuilt. They can then add this feature to the spec sheet!
5 ★I see so many bad reviews on this app, I've had nothing but good experiences. The first thing I did, disable power saving on this app, this should stop Android from killing it. Older versions of Android won't have this. Could also be older BT versions don't work well with it? I'm running 5.1 on a V60 and have zero connectivity issues. It even reconnects on returning from the store for example, stays connected from inside the house, 30 feet away. All in all works very well for me.
1 ★Garbage on Android. This app works great on my wife's Apple phone (connects to wifi and Bluetooth) I have a Samsung Note 20 and it will only connect to Bluetooth with a very limited range. This needs to be fixed. Also Masterbuilt's customer service overall is garbage right now. The gravity series is one of the best grill/smokers on the market but you can't talk to anyone on the phone and they take a month to respond without resolving anything because they don't even have a chat feature.
2 ★Seems to have connectivity issues. Real problem running in the background. I have to keep this app open and my phone on AT ALL TIMES for this to work, cannot use my phone for anything else without the app disconnecting. Very annoying, kinda defeats the purpose if I have to go outside every 10 mins just to reconnect.
1 ★Horrible, keeps disconnecting will not reconnect. The smoker works fine,so far. The app to control it needs A LOT OF WORK, because it doesn't! Will not stay connected. Open the door and it's all over. Who was the fool that approved this app for release? Totally useless.
1 ★After reading the reviews I was hoping I would be on the side of good but this Bluetooth feature is beyond a joke! Masterbuilt needs to read these reviews and fix the problem or they will DEFINITELY lose a lot of customers. It's false advertising.
1 ★I got it to connect then it told me it wasn't able to control smoker while door was open, which it wasn't. It cant find my wifi signal that my phone is connected to, and on top of all that it needs my location services on to work. Why does my smoker need to know where it's at.
3 ★The first few times I've cooked using the app it has worked perfectly. now since I assume the January update I can no set a time or a temperature (food or grill). The app still reads what I said it to manually but I can no longer Make adjustments remotely.
2 ★This app and the firmware in the smoker grill are really poor. There seems to always be a problem with the Bluetooth to the Wi-Fi or the unit setting off and requiring a lot of fiddling to get it working again.
