Description
慈濟在1966年成立之初，即由證嚴上人在花蓮、臺東等地舉辦貧民義診，1972年假花蓮市仁愛街成立「慈濟功德會附設貧民施醫義診所」。一九八六年，慈濟第一家大型綜合醫院在花蓮啟業，緊接著玉里慈濟醫院、關山慈濟醫院、大林慈濟醫院、台北慈濟醫院、台中慈濟醫院陸續拔地而起，守護生命。台北慈濟醫院(以下簡稱台北慈院)於2005年5月8日正式啟業。台北慈院是以醫學中心規格打造的大型人文醫院，除成立各專科醫學中心，提供優良基礎醫學及高科技臨床醫療服務外，還全面發展微創手術，減輕病患痛苦；此外，更結合慈濟社區志工網絡，支援基層醫療院所，落實社區衛生教育，配合衛生主管機關，辦理保健及公共衛生工作。醫院亦針對身心障礙兒童提供診斷、治療、復健、親子教育等全程醫療。
