¹ SecureTether uses your phone plan's regular data volume (not the tethering volume) and works without a tethering plan in most cases (some providers detect and block tethering traffic based on traffic content in addition to locking down the phone). Regular data rates apply (which may be zero on an unlimited data plan unless roaming or other charges apply).

² Computers need to be configured, but only using tools that come with Windows / Mac OS / Linux (may require OS installation media or internet in some rare cases).
Android client devices require small (less than 0.5 MB) client app that can be sent to client device over Bluetooth using SecureTether (i.e. installation does not require internet) in most cases.

³ Blocked on some phones, in which case SPP can usually be used instead.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

5 ★I love and appreciate this app. It works perfectly for sharing data connections between Android devices. The one complaint that I have to share is that when exiting the app, I'd like a way to actually stop the app from running in the background. As it is, when I'm done using it, I have to force close it or the notification that it's waiting to reconnect remains. Thank you dev!
5 ★This is awesome! I know, I'm probably just clueless, but I had no idea you could do this. I am sharing my internet connection via Bluetooth to my audio player and listening via Bluetooth headphones at the same time. I admit I had to turn down the bit rate a little to prevent pauses in the music. Still, this is awesome! And if BT won't cut it, I have the WiFi option. I am terminating the data line for my tablet, terminating the tethering fee on my phone, and sending Secure Tether a donation.
5 ★Excellent app! Tethering works fine with a Tracfone Samsung Galaxy Sky S320VL on Verizon. What didn't work out was creating Win10 Connect and Disconnect desktop shortcuts that worked. A better explanation would be good. App is for Bluetooth only, dev is working on a Wi-Fi version. That would be cool. I got this app working in about 15 mins. The folks that only gave 1 star are probably not very computer savvy. Kudos to the developer. Keep up the great work. You're definitely the cat's meow.
5 ★Lubuntu 16.04 LTS instructions worked great... the whole screen thing didn't apply to me I just left the terminal window open... Thank you for making such a useful tool... I did everything that was said to do and this worked out... I would recommend using this or at least trying it. If you want for info from a non windows user just let me know I'll help any way I can to end windows!
5 ★This app is beyond unbelievably awesome. It has enabled me to go to school to get my bachelor's degree, and without it that simply wouldn't be possible. I am spreading the word to whoever will listen, and God bless you for making an app that can do so much good, and be so reliable, step by step explained and easily navigated. Once I have an income you can bet i will be showing my gratitude. Thank you so much Mr. Developer!
5 ★I have never written a review of any app, program, game, etc., but I cannot praise this app enough. I am at the high end of technical knowledge but even a novice could use this. The walkthrough detects the name and model of your device and inserts into the instructions so a novice doesn't need to know how to translate technical jargon. If I could give this 10 stars, I would. Don't let the people who give this negative reviews deter you. Anyone can make this work.
5 ★100% Works. I highly recommend this app. Crazy, I thought it wouldn't. No root needed. I'm on AT&T with a Samsung S8+ Took me 10 minutes to setup on Windows 10. The instructions are super clear and easy to follow. Just follow them and bam, you got a bluetooth hotspot.
5 ★This app works well. I only need to tether every once in a while and didn't want to pay $25/month for an account upgrade and tethering. I'm using it with a Windows 7 machine once or twice a month for 10 or so minutes but the connection hasn't dropped and is rock solid. It's not particularly fast but it's fine for my needs
5 ★At first, i didn't see the modem appear under "Set up a dial-up connection". But i created a dial code, username, & password though. I named the connection "Secure Tether." Then i went back, clicked on "Network And Sharing Center" above the sub heading "Set up a dial-up connection", then chose "Set up a new connection or network", "Connect to the internet" & selected "Yes, I'll choose an existing connection"; selected Secure Tether, next, input my created dial up info, chose "dial". Success! Ty
5 ★A tethering app that actually works!!!! Yes, you have to go through multiple steps; it might take you half an hour to set up if you are as slow as me and try to read everything, but it is well worth it. In the end, it is simple and easy to use. And set up is not hard either; the creator did the work for you and has screenshots of everything. Super work!
5 ★This is a great app with FANTASTIC instructioms for the less-technical of us. I don't typically leave a lot of reviews but this little gem is worth 6 stars.
5 ★This app does what it says, the setup takes some time & attention to detail, but are some of the BEST technical directions I've EVER seen, & Ive seen a lot. I dont have much money AT ALL, but for only the second time EVER, I am making a donation to support software development. I found it THAT useful. I have had to repeat the setup a couple of times since the initial, but I have no reason to believe that has anything to do with the app.
