Description

Social Talker is an app to allow an Android user to send and receive messages via the Twitter and Slack social networks in an eyes-free / hands-free fashion, without the need to ever touch or even look at the device.

Tweets and Slack messages are received and spoken in turn by the app, with Slack messages being prioritized over Tweets.

After a message is spoken, the app listens for a voiced command from the user for a short time (specified in the 'Settings' screen). If no command is voice the app simply proceeds to the next message).

Social Talker will support the following voice commands:

REPEAT - to repeat the most recent message
STEP - to step to the next message in the queue
POST - start a Slack voice post on the currently selected channel
REPLY - start a voice reply to the most recent message (will @ sender)
RESPOND - start a voice reply to the most recent message (won't @ sender)
APPEND - append to the message currently being voiced
SEND - send a Slack message, Tweet or SMS/Text that has been voiced
CHANNEL - change the currently selected Slack channel
TEAM - change the currently selected Slack team
DROP - stop listening to a specific Slack team
FASTER - to increase the app's speaking speed
SLOWER - to decrease the app's speaking speed
PAUSE - Pause voice output, resume with a tap on the screen
TWEET - start a voice tweet, with the ability to select recipient via voice
RETWEET - retweet the just heard tweet (verify by saying "retweet" a 2nd time)
ENABLE - Turn on Tweet, Slack, or SMS/Text message reception
DISABLE - Turn off Tweet, Slack, or SMS/Text message reception
LIKE - Like / favorite the tweet that was just spoken by the app
SAVE - Save the current slack message or tweet, for viewing later via "Saved" page
BACK - step back 1 or 'n' in the list of recently said messages

The TWEET, POST, REPLY, RESPOND, TEXT and THREAD commands will trigger the app to prompt the user to provide a message via voice, speak that message back for verification, and allow the message to be added to (via the APPEND command) or be sent (via the SEND command).

The REPLY and RESPOND commands will form a message appropriate to the most recently heard message type. That is to say that a response to a tweet will be tweeted, and the response to a Slack message will be sent to the Slack channel on which the original message was received.

Some hands-on configuration will be necessary after app installation. For Twitter integration, the user will have to (only once) provide the app with Twitter login credentials. For Slack integration, entering the "/socialtalker" slash command in a channel while in the Android Slack app will connect Social Talker to that Slack team. All future launches of Social Talker will automatically connect to configured the Slack teams and Twitter account.

Social Talker will be able to use any installed voice in the device.

What's new in version Varies with device

Added the TWEET AT voice command (replacing TWEET FAVORITE), and changed the APPEND voice command to ADD.
TWEET AT 3 will select the tweet target as the 3rd from the FAVORITES list, and "TWEET AT b u c k ..." will target the first follower or friend whose screen_name matches "buck".
Voice verification for the command will include the selected target, so the user can be sure is targeting correctly..
The QUOTE AT voice command works similarly.
See the HELP page for details on usage.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.
