Cada año desde la última semana de enero hasta la primera semana de febrero se desarrolla una de las festividades religiosas más grandes del cantón y posiblemente del centro del país.Con novenas, misas y procesiones se reúnen los Saquisilenses y especialmente aquellos que vuelven desde diversos puntos del país y fuera de él para agradecer los milagros de "La Viajerita".
La tradición, que se plasmó en un documento, indica que cada uno de los 44 barrios del cantón debe recibir a la Virgen y homenajearla. Además, se conformará un comité y se elegirá un prioste, que organizará el evento.
La gente de Saquisilí trabaja todo el año para estas fiestas y participa activamente tanto de los actos sociales como de los religiosos.
Pero, los días de la Fiesta Mayor (Primer sábado, domingo y lunes de febrero) el Prioste (designado a un barrio o Institución en el cantón), se encarga de entregar la Banda al Pueblo para celebrar las festividades, con el Desfile de la Confraternidad Saquisilense vienen los payasos, disfrazados, guarichas, carishinas y capariches.
El domingo es el día de Fiesta puramente religiosa comprende en la Misa de Fiesta, Procesión y recorrido por diferentes arcos y altares decorados para la ocasión.
Finalmente, el lunes se conoce al Prioste del próximo y en una entrega solemne y simbólica se entrega la Banda de Músicos, y con la bendición de la Virgen y al sonar del Pasodoble Virgen de El Quinche todos se despiden hasta el próximo año.
