5 ★I just downloaded this and did my first call and text. It worked just great on WiFi. Absolutely great sound on either end, no obtrusive ads in the way of typing. The only upgrade I could think many would want, is to be able to change colors and background, me because I have issues with white and my eyes I just have to dim my phone, other than that it's awesome. Im updating on 1/05/2019, still love this app for calls and texts. Nothing is ever going to be 100% perfect but, this app works for me!
3 ★I've been using this app for years now and it does the job. Other apps have things like credits you have to use to make calls or texts, but Talkatone doesn't use that. BUT this app is buggy. 1)when I make a call the other person can't hear me at all. I have to restart my phone to fix it. 2)NO logout option you have to uninstall it and reinstall the app. 3)The volume sometimes stays in "call mode" and I have to press the volume button under voicemails to fix it. 4)You can't send videos.
5 ★So far my experience has been quite good, albeit only 48hrs since installing this app. The UI is smooth, simple, and very functional. The call quality is rather exceptional. Incoming/outgoing texts move rapidly. And so far the ads are incredibly minimum sticking to "inbox" ads with no forced-to-watch video ads. But I'm most impressed by the added features. There's a ton of them. But the free "burn number" feature isn't one one seen offered by any other app. I'm using the free version BTW.
2 ★When someone calls I can hear them just fine. U haven't tried to call anyone so I can't speak on that. Anytime you get a text message the conversation has to load which can be a bit annoying. MMS comes through just fine. I'm unable to block numbers without giving app access to my phones contacts, saving the number to my phone, and then I can block it. That defeat the purpose of having this app. Plz add block feature within the app, thank you. If not will delete app.
2 ★I feel 1 star isn't a fair rating as I didn't even get to try the app, but the fact that I couldn't is a problem. I tried to verify my email 3 times, and every time I got the code and went back to the app, it had gone back to the previous screen. Finally I accessed my email from a second device to try a fourth time, just to finish signing up and be told there'd been an unusually high number of signup attempts. Such security is excessive for an app that backtracks your signup just because it can.
2 ★Edit: The issue had nothing to do with poor connectivity it had to do with the app sleeping/disconnecting, then having to tap to reconnect, if it weren't actively being used, which made it impossible to receive calls or texts without continual monitoring. I gave two because the outbound features were ok. Would never stay connected to WiFi unless it was open.
1 ★This app sucks. The voice quality is terrible (the deliberately throttle the connection for choppy sound), then they block text messages (can't post screenshots). Don't waste your time with it. I would give it 0 stars if that was an option. It also doesn't send your calls though. You get voice message but the phone never rang. Got good service and on great wifi system. Some time I get "waiting on connection" when making a call. Calling phone right next to me on Verizon network with all bars.
5 ★This is such an incredible, reliable application and a wonderful substitute for a cell phone. As long as I have decent wifi connection, I have never had any serious issues. Occasionally when sending a photograph attached to a text message it will not deliver, I just try several times and it will usually go through. As a word of caution, be wary to send text messages with too many characters as there is a limit per SMS which Talkatone has not accounted for. Chop the message into smaller amounts.
2 ★When it works for you, it does send and receive messages and calls, simply. But when it doesn't, you will be hit with "Not delivered" repeatedly when you send texts, & calls that never go through. I went through three paid numbers in a half hour contacting my actual phone number to test this, and all failed. Servers don't work well or the numbers are network blocked. This is not a relible service. It works fine when it works, but don't bet on it doing so.
3 ★It's overall a decent app. But it gets really on and off when you type in group chats or try to send Pictures. Unlike I thought Talkatone Plus does NOT give you unlimited texts. I don't believe You have a limited amount of contacts but I have quite a few and it's been fine. You can't change the notification sound but that's not a huge deal. The limited amount of texts can get super annoying but you can still call if you are out of texts. Overall it's an okay app.
1 ★With the recent update, the performance is getting so poor. When i open the app, it takes multiple attempts to get connected. If some one send me pic, after opening when i click save option, i get error.... something went wrong. It can not save the image. With multiple attempts to connect everytime, it is draining battery so much. Pls fix the performance
4 ★I always recommend to my friends to use Talkatone. I do let them know that it has quite a few bugs but for a free phone, What can you say? Now I do wish that they would fix these bugs: Sound does seem like the call pauses but the majority of the time it does well if you have a good WiFi connection. Lately on the iPhone 11 the ads seem to just jump up in the middle of typing then you have to hit back about 2-3 times. Sounds like your being recorded sometimes. I usually just have to restart the app. I have an old Samsung 4 tablet that I used this on forever. Good product just needs some tweaks.
