SiBooky adalah aplikasi buku digital Perpustakaan Kota Semarang. Pada tahap awal ini, SiBooky berisi koleksi ebook baik ebook yang komersial dengan sistem DRM (Digital Right Management) dan ebook open source atau non komersial tanpa sistem DRM. Untuk ebook dengan sistem DRM, setiap judul baru tersedia satu buku, sehingga jika ebook ini sedang dibaca pengunjung lain, maka pembaca berikutnya harus menunggu lebih dahulu. Sedangkan untuk buku opensource atau non komersial, tidak menggunakan sistem DRM sehingga bisa dibaca oleh siapa saja dalam waktu bersamaan.Ke depan, SiBooky akan dikembangkan dan diperbanyak koleksinya untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat, baik masyarakat Kota Semarang, atau masyarakat yang lebih luas lagi karena koleksi ini bisa diakses secara online.
Untuk manajemen peminjaman online juga nantinya akan dikembangkan, sehingga masyarakat luas bisa meminjam buku untuk lama waktu tertentu untuk dibaca melalui smartphone. Koleksi ebook perpustakaan Kota Semarang juga akan disediakan di beberapa tempat umum yang bisa diakses tanpa menggunakan koneksi internet, tetapi cukup dengan koneksi bluetooth dengan aplikasi tertentu.
Semoga pengembangan teknologi digital di Perpustakaan Kota Semarang bisa terus dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan layanan masyarakat di bidang literasi.
