HOW ONE SMALL STEP HELPS YOU
We’ll get you started by understanding the impact of your current lifestyle choices. Get a breakdown of your carbon footprint so you can see how you compare to the average Australian. You’ll receive a personalised sustainability roadmap to see how to reduce your carbon emissions down to the UN’s 2050 goal of 2 tonnes per year.
Using behavioural science, One Small Step makes it easy to perform impactful actions. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by information, you’ll get step-by-step programs with trusted recommendations on sustainable products. For example, if your current superannuation fund invests in fossil fuels, we’ll recommend you a program so you can switch to an ethical option. You’ll be guided every step of the way from comparing ethical funds, right through to making the switch & updating your employer.
Stay motivated on your journey to net zero carbon emissions. Through our gamified programs and Habits tool, you’ll build your confidence & skills to take control of your carbon footprint, be rewarded for taking action and see your impact in real time. Our Teams feature helps you to achieve your goals & build your momentum by completing weekly challenges with your friends, family & workmates.
We tend to think that our individual choices don’t matter, but they do when we’re acting together. Our behaviour has a flow-on effect and will influence others to do the same. All it takes is One Small Step at a time.

Our mission is to help millions of people reduce their personal carbon footprints down to the UN’s 2050 goal of 2 tonnes of CO2e per person, per year.
The goal is to grow this community to 28 million members, the same number of users as FitBit. Even if our users only partially reduce their annual footprints by 6 tonnes each, together, that achieves the same carbon impact as closing down 40 coal-fired power stations.
It’s ambitious, and you can help achieve this. The more people who use the One Small Step app, the more insights we gain into how to more effectively support you to reduce your environmental impact. 5 ★This is an interesting app and very well designed. I can see flutter being used all around. I am also surprised to see how a startup can make money with something like this. It may have stemmed from a pain point experienced by extremely environment cautious people. Anyway I give 5 starts for the app design. Your devs did a great job!
1 ★for an app that supposedly cares about helping the planet and carbon footprint a. why is the subscription/outright buy pricing SO high and prohibitive? AND WHY do you need every single detail about where and who I live with to calculate *MY* carbon footprint? MY footprint is not based on what others do or how old they are OR what my relationship is w them!!! WHO do you sell this information to?!? totally outrageous and unnecessary invasion of privacy, UNINSTALLED!!! U have stopped me caring!!
1 ★Stupid application that is a slave to the climate change industry. Do yourselves a favour and ditch this application otherwise standby for being bombarded by proffiteering organisations advertising that does less for the planet than sensible people who actually do care about preventing pollution.
5 ★This app is so easy to use, I feel empowered to make some small adjustments with big impacts. The measure in no. of trees is a great feature, it helps me realise/visualise the impact. Thanks very much for this great tool.
5 ★This is a great, user friendly app. It convinced me how quick and easy it would be to switch from Commonwealth bank (greedy, lying bank that paid $12b to fossil fuel since 2016 despite promising to limit global warming) to Bank Australia (carbon neutral since 2011). Thank you One Small Step for helping me use capitalism to fight the climate crisis.
5 ★The app helped me switch banks, offset my carbon footprint, but mainly change a number of habits. The programs really do a great job of incremental change instead of big changes that I'd never attempt.
5 ★Just downloaded this, what a great app. Am currently browsing habits. Can you add an option for zero in the "how many times you machine dry your clothes"? We don't own a dryer.
