5 ★EDIT: I did end up buying the no ads version and I have to say it's worth it. Very cute design and lovely music. The sound design makes me want to play more because I love the sound the little critters make. My only complaint is that the ads are annoying, but more specifically sometimes you literally can't close out of them without restarting the app, which is frustrating. Still, I would recommend this game/ productivity app to all my friends!
3 ★Crashes every few days. I've had to uninstall and reinstall for app to open. And it takes forever to get to the log in screen upon reinstalling. There should be a way to bypass the intro to log in. Lost over 5,000 steps a day. It crashes and doesn't count my steps since it won't connect to Google fit. It's a super cute game but crashes are becoming cumbersome.
5 ★This game actually keeps me more aware of my steps or lack thereof than a fitness tracker alone. I often do not wear my watch but have my phone and Walkr with me. It's also a great game to pass the time. Once I'm done feeding all my planets, exploring, and playing with the inhabitants, I finish up and check on my missions , and epics ; it gives me a break without becoming too distracting.
1 ★I was really excited about this game because I have been looking for a fun fitness app. However, there isn't enough instruction about what you're actually doing or where it's counting your steps. It took a lot of walking for me to realize that the meter is already full, and I found no way to see what my daily total is. And the ads! Pop ups that suddenly, and LOUDLY, take over for at least thirty seconds at a time just from doing anything at all. Not for me.
4 ★This is a nice app to track your steps in a day. I'm giving it 4 stars for a couple reasons. I wish you could change the daily goal and some of the ads that you watch to get cubes and food automatically open the play store, which is super annoying. I like the planets it is fun discovering each one.
4 ★An impressively good idle game for being a fitness encouragment app. I'm always looking for apps that gamify fitness as it's the most motivating way for me to get my excercise. The only thing keeping Walkr from being 5 stars Is that the walking, while exceedingly helpful for progressing, can be entirely ignored if you choose to. I'd like to see at least some unlocks or type of progression for the game that is walking only alongside the other content that it already has going.
5 ★Fun game! I wish the steps mattered a bit more in the mid game. Early game they can be used to speed up planet discovery and late game they are used exclusively for the lab to upgrade planets, but mid game they don't have much purpose since upgrading with coins is still most efficient. I've been playing for years though, collecting the new planets is fun and the game is a nice background app to mess with when you're bored
4 ★I've been playing this game for a little while and so far I like it. It's cute and motivates me to exercise, especially when doing the Epics. I removed one star because it imports your full name when you connect your account to social media, and I prefer to use screen names, so I ended up making a Twitter account specifically for this purpose. It's a very weird design choice. Some of the instructions could be a little clearer too. Also, the premium currency is exorbitantly expensive as usual.
5 ★I just returned to Walkr after a few years when I realized I had fallen into a bad exercise routine. This app turns a walk around the block into an exploration of a very interesting universe. Each step becomes energy to fuel your journey. There are video ads, but they are very easy to mute and skip. You can tell there was a lot of effort put into making the app, so I feel like the ads are a small price to pay for such a fun, unique, and motivating app that is available for free.
2 ★RECENT UNRESOLVED ISSUE: I've reached out but I cannot load the epics, bridge, or social except for random times once a day. There's just too many problems now, it's no longer fun. Ad update now no longer is silent only even though the game also is muted. One of my biggest pet peeves. Fun little game. I wish it would sync with my Fitbit or with Google! I can't always carry my phone around with me. It would also be great if I could send resources to friends, coins or food; not just energy.
3 ★I enjoy this game quite a bit, but the ads pop-up taking the entire screen, after it plays I hit the x in the top right corner and the advertised app instantly downloads. I have to exit the game and delete the new app, I'm really unhappy that there's no way to avoid this so I had to give it 3*.
4 ★Downloaded this app multiple times and always loved it. Fun UI, music, sounds, gameplay and everything. The voyages are a pretty fun way to implement teamwork. Literally the only downside is that it won't count steps if you close out the app. If it wasn't for that I'd give it a 5-star rating
