Eligible OnStar Members receive the OnStar Guardian app as part of their plan. A standalone plan is only $15 a month. 1 ★Onstar has stuffed another 60 a year onto the already too expensive subscription fee. The app runs poorly and eats batteries. I don't want it. I called customer service and the babbling offshore call taker hung up on me. End this foolishness and stop charging me for an extra service I don't want or I'm done with onstar.
1 ★I do not want to pay additional service, which I will not use and didn't ask for. Also this app drains my battery horribly fast.
1 ★Unable to change phone number on app made several calls for tech support and no luck fix the dam app or cancel service
2 ★Consumes way to much battery life. Wake up at 6am, by noon my battery life is less than 50% with not much usage of my phone.
1 ★I don't want to be charged for this service that I never signed up for and don't want to use. I just want the services I had. Offer this as an optional add-on.
1 ★DO NOT PAY FOR THIS SERVICE! My husband and I started a subscription and found out the vehicle he drives doesn't pair with this app rendering the app/subscription useless. We've been trying for two months to cancel our subscription and no one can help us. We've talked to EIGHT different people through their phone system who all had no clue how to cancel it and sent us to someone else. This morning they pulled payment for the third time and there's nothing we can do other than call and email.
1 ★I have had OnStar for many years and they decide to raise my rates 20% for an app I didn't ask for and doesn't appear to work well. Why would I add this app to my family's phones when it is problematic on mine. Battery hog too! I guess it's time to reconsider the value of OnStar overall. A 20% price hike in economically challenging times is not just poor product planning, it's a customer service nightmare!!
1 ★I uninstalled the app because I didn't understand its purpose. Does it have a purpose if you are the only one that drives the vehicle? I guess I could use it to call for emergency services if I'm riding with someone else, but then I could just call 911 too. I couldn't find any information on the app itself either. If someone can tell me what the benefits of the app are, I might reconsider installing.
2 ★This app requires too many permissions. You cannot use the app at all unless you give it full permissions to drain your battery and turn on 3 location services. You should be able to use part of the app without giving full permissions
1 ★Onstar just raised rates to provide an app I don't want or need. It should be something people can opt in for if they are interested, not a mandatory service. I barely use onstar as it stands. Plus, the app doesn't offer anything I don't already have available through they mychevorlet app. So, this just might be straw that broke the camels back, pushing me to cancel service completely.
1 ★No one should have to call a 1-800 number to cancel their service because a business is forcing them into an additional $5 a month to cover the costs of a mobile app (this one) that they've never downloaded. Make the app require agree to a $5 reoccurring purchase from Play Store if you want that money so badly--do not automatically add it to my plan. tl;dr being charged automatically for this app (which I never installed until now so I could leave this review) is the reason I just canceled my entire OnStar plan.
1 ★Old one was better! I do get with the change in times BUT, 2017 to 2021 OnStar... What Happen? I calles the csr/tech support to get my devices to talk. CSR/Tech was not help an could not explain the process of the new addition of the service "guardian". I am deleting the app an thinking about ending my service if i can not deletethe additional $5.99 for the "Guardian" service
