雨の中、ダンボール箱の中で子猫が鳴いていた。濡れて今にも事切れそうな子猫を放っておくことはできなかった。
家に連れ帰ると子猫の様子が何だかおかしい。まるで人の言葉を理解しているよう。
リビングにある古い鏡。その鏡の中に映った子猫は人の姿をして人の言葉でこう話した。
人の子よ。お前を私の主人としよう。

古道具屋で見かけたかなりアンティークな西洋人形。
ところどころシミがあり塗装が剥げているその人形から目が離せなかった。
まるで人の心を見透かしているかのような目。ガラス玉でしかない目がこちらを凝視している。
怖くなってその店を飛び出した。そして私の携帯に突然知らない番号から電話がかかる。。。もしもし、私。。。。
