Description

Live Transcribe & Sound Notifications makes everyday conversations and surrounding sounds more accessible among people who are deaf and hard of hearing, using just your Android phone or tablet.

On most devices, you can directly access Live Transcribe & Sound Notifications with these steps:
1. Open your device's Settings app.
2. Tap Accessibility, then tap Live Transcribe, or Sound Notifications, depending on which app you’d like to start.
3. Use the Accessibility button, gesture or quick setting (https://support.google.com/accessibility/android/answer/7650693) to start Live Transcribe or Sound Notifications.

Sound Notifications:
• Get notified of potential risky situations and personal situations based on sounds happening at home (for example, smoke alarm, siren, baby sounds).
• Add custom sounds to get notified when your appliances beep.• Get notifications with a flashing light or vibration to your mobile device or wearable.
• Timeline view lets you go back in history (currently limited to 12 hours) to see what was happening around you.

Real-time transcription:
• Transcribes in real-time. Text appears on your device as words are spoken.
• Choose from over 80 languages and dialects, and quickly switch between two languages.
• Add custom words that you use frequently, like names or household items.
• Set your device to vibrate when someone says your name.
• Type responses in your conversation. Bring up your device’s keyboard and type your words for a continuous dialogue. Transcriptions still appear while you type.
• See the volume of the speaker’s voice compared to the loudness in your environment. You can use this sound indicator to adjust your volume when you speak.
• Use external microphones found in wired headsets, Bluetooth headsets, and USB mics for better audio reception.

Referring back to transcription:
• Choose to save transcriptions for 3 days. Saved transcriptions will stay locally on your device for 3 days, so you can copy and paste them elsewhere. (By default, transcriptions are not saved.)
• Search within saved transcriptions.
• Touch and hold text in transcription to copy and paste.

Requirements:
• Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and up.

Microphone: Live Transcribe needs microphone access to transcribe the speech around you. The audio is not stored after the transcription is processed. Sound Notifications needs microphone access to listen for sounds happening around you. The audio is also not stored after processing is finished.

1 ★The app keeps downloading onto my phone all on its own. Its very annoying, suspicious and frustrating. I emailed them and nothing. Its Terrible that a app can be created and they know they are installing it and you can't do nothing about it. Invasive!

1 ★The only thing it alerts me to is water running while I am going to the bathroom. I set my phone next to the sink with the faucet on and got nothing. It might be OK with the transcribe part of the program but the sound alerts are only accessible in settings and not easy to get to. It's not working for me so I'll uninstall.

5 ★The new update is awesome! I hope Google will do a quick tutorial on YouTube (like the Pixel tips) for these new features. Here are the new features: • Get notified about important events that happen around you (like fire and smoke alarms) and important situations that may become serious (like baby sounds or doorbell ringing). • Choose which sounds you want to be notified about. • Receive sound notifications on a connected wearable.

5 ★This app works as expected. Most of the time I use during listening podcast but I need to listen that on speaker mode to let the microphone picks the audio. If you can provide an option for audio source as speaker in case of headphone then it will be quite helpful. For example when listening to podcast on app in background this app should transcribe the podcast audio while fetching to audio from headphone speaker.

1 ★Since upgrading to Android 11 it will not work with speaker phone!!! My brother is hearing impaired and we used to use it all the time to communicate with him, we all feel SO frustrated since it stopped working! Please fix it!!!!

1 ★Awful. I have to have my mouth just about eating my phone for it to hear anything. It gets angry and reminds me that I am not saving my transcriptions. I know. It randomly just pops itself open on my screen. I find it interesting none of these negative reviews I now see had appeared when I downloaded this app. Spy app •meep• disguised to trick deaf me into thinking I can have some helpful purpose for my pocket listening device aka cell phone. Hate to give any stars, but it is easy to use.

4 ★I didn't know this app was on my phone but trying it out was fun. I can see many situations where this could be useful. It's not perfect, as sometimes it misinterprets a word or can't keep up with faster speech but accuracy is good overall.

4 ★if you like your call to ve recorded you must buy an android phone under version 9 so on Ebay. Google did not wanted us not to recorded our phone call he reserved it for there pixel, not only they record the conversation but it is automatically transcript so you can easly find back something that. was said on a phone call. Wacth out with tour reviews guys, ignorance is not something the world need right now. More people of solution and less of those who turn not knowing they dont know.

3 ★A very good app when it works properly. Only fault is the person speaking has to speak very clearly and not to fast. And it struggles to pick up TV from more than 1 metre away. So need to place phone close to TV speakers which means I got sit to close to TV to be able to read phone.

5 ★I love this app!! I use it at work to communicate with clients who have hearing impairment and it's absolutely wonderful. Especially since we're all wearing masks right now, it feels great to be able to bridge the gap and offer the same level of service to everyone regardless of their ability.

5 ★Most useful tool. This is not an ordinary app by any matters of means. It's extremely precise on understanding words even if there's noise around. It helps me a lot taking notes from speeches and to understand some difficult words in a target language.

1 ★Rated 1 star because there's no "0" star option. Not sure at what point this app took over my voice to text feature on my keyboard but it just plain socks. Not intuitive at all and I am not going to bother learning it. It's GONE after this review.
