5 ★I've been using for many years, first as Guthook and now called FarOut. Great for planning my section backpacking trip then using while hiking (with phone in airplane mode), being able to find out exactly where I am at any point along the hike along with being able to see how far it is to next water source, shelter, road crossing, etc (along with elevation profile ahead). Only wish this great app had similar purchases for my bike packing trips!

5 ★This app is great! It works pretty well off line most of the time. Only had a couple of spots where it crashednin the Sierra Nevada mountains in California during my PCT through hike in 2022. Other than that it worked perfectly and was really helpful for water as well looking at the comments resupplys as well
1 ★Hate to say it, but the UI for managing a long trail and / or multiple trails is terrible. It used to be so intuitive, now its just a mess. Bring back Guthook!
1 ★Total scam! Waste of time and money. Downloaded the app and paid for the Te Araroa trail and can only use it for the Auckland section. I tried everything. Maybe there's something I don't understand about the app but as it is now I want a refund!

3 ★I used this app on the PCT and the information was invaluable. However, I am now walking Te Araroa and I'm finding it far less useful. Waypoints are frequently missing and information is a few years out of date (for example, describing certain huts or campsites as first come first serve when they must be pre-booked). If they were to bring back crowdsourced waypoints, I'm sure this app would be much more useful for the less travelled trails. As it is, I will skip it on the next one.
