Download Earthmate APK file from ApkClean, then follow these steps:
Update Phone Settings
- Go to your phone Settings page

- Confirm with OK

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

2 ★The app is very buggy. Like another reviewer mine does not always pull the messages from the inreach device. I think this happens when another app is being used (gmail in this case). Once this happens there does not appear to be a way to manually pull the messages. The count of unread messages on the device get out of sync and there is no way to fix that either. These 2 problems combine to make it very difficult to tell if you have a new message.
2 ★Honestly, one of the clunkiest app experiences I've ever had. The hardware is great but Garmin really doesnt follow through on mobile and web apps. The app can't do basic filtering of tracks and waypoints, menus are unintuitive with basic functions hidden behind multiple clicks, and syncing is inconsistent between device/web/mobile. Two stars because ultimately I CAN download maps, see where I am, send messages, and get weather fairly easily. Everything else is just... really shaky.
4 ★doesn't always transfer messages from in reach to phone, or will do part of them but leave a couple out. I'm a marine biologist, use mine in the Bering sea for regular communication, it will randomly skip transfering messages here and there. The garmin receives them, they just wont make it to the phone all the time. overall though great, much better than trying to type on my in reach.
1 ★I recorded a track but the app does not have an export to GPX option. When doing sync method with Garmin's portal, Earthmate app is not uploading the recorded tracks neither. So no way to use my tracking log. Really? I can get better capabilities from my phone's GPS using free apps than using this Garmin's version of Earthmate. Have you tried Garmin' chat support? Only to get a "retrieving config" message. Perhaps InReach should have remained at DeLorme.
1 ★doesn't sync all messages from mini. doesnt support copy/paste, i cant send a message to my group, because the empty text is 218 words used out of 160(~). its EMPTY! there are no letters!! As with most garmin software, always a problem, this is not acceptable for InReach users, we dont have the luxury of cell or wifi coverage. update. downgraded to one star, you cant solicit any tech support via inreach email, and if you need to make account changes, you need an internet connection.
2 ★This app used to be great. Always planned my off roading prior to a trip on the website, then sent it to my tablet. For whatever reason, it no longer works. I continually hit the sync, but I have no access to my waypoints or routes on the website. Without routes and waypoints it is next to useless.
2 ★Unable to download maps to my phone though I have space. Download starts then stalls. Despite that I was able to create route & waypoints online, sync & then use my phone to see rudimentary route & when I was nearing the waypoints. I was able to add a waypoint in route from my phone. Though messages typed using the app did sync to garmin, they didn't all send from the garmin. Which is likely a garmin issue.
2 ★Cant seem to get rid of old tracks. Some of the app doesn't make sense, seems clunky compared to Garmin explore.
5 ★Works well. Used many times while hiking and even driving off-road. Maps have been accurate and helpful when exploring parks or wilderness areas. We use the in conjunction with a Bluetooth attached inreach device. Battery life of phone and sat device has been acceptable. Really like the elevation accuracy too. We've used this in Canada, US, and Central America. Used on land, water, and in rhe air.
1 ★Still won't work, HATE YOU GARMIN! Can't connect the app to the internet. Try to log in to my account but it says there is no internet, check network connections. Uninstall, reinstall, turn off, turn on. Won't work w cell data or wifi. So here you go Garmin, a review on the internet, from the device that is not connected. Get lost!
2 ★This is a very disappointing app. The communication functions are ok but navigation is terrible: laughable maps for Australia and new Zealand (completely worthless for any real nav) and you can't create a route in the field - this has to be done online on the website (!) Both of these issues could be easily fixed - lift your game Garmin!
4 ★app works but it is not the easiest to use, needs to provide more detail about status of satalite connection so not wondering about connection issues and delays. love being able to text when offshore so I'll accept the imperfection, it is still a fantastic service just needs a better front end. map share is less intuitive on the mini and the app could handle that feature better.
