Description

A software variometer. This application uses Kalman filter to estimate climb/descent rate from barometric sensor and accelerometer data. The estimation is displayed on a dial indicator, with optional sound indication. Does not need weather information to work.

How to install Variometer APK on Android phone or tablet?

4 ★The last update causes the app to hang after a half hour to an hour or so. This is on two different devices with two different versions of Android. I wish I had backed up the APK before updating! Now I can't go back. After hanging, we have to close and restart the app. My other criticism is lack of documentation. It is great to be able to adjust the parameters, but they are not intuitively obvious, and I am an engineer!

5 ★Excellent. In IVSI mode it responds instantly. Have not tried it in flight yet. The "samples" setting is supposed to allow you to trade off response time (lag) vs smoothness, but doesn't seem to do anything at all (at least in IVSI mode). Even so, 5 stars.

1 ★Tried it while flying. It was erratic and inaccurate. Told me I climbing during a dive. Edit: Just landed, tried the alt static source acft VSI underread but stable. App continued to be erratic I'm afraid.Samsung S3

5 ★Does what it says, though would be useful to calibrate - especially automatically through inferometry with GPS speed, ie. Total Energy ;-) As someone else has proposed, it would be absolutely fantastic integrated with Accurate Altimeter.

5 ★Does exactly what it says it does. It would be nice if this program was intergrated with the author's other one (Sensitive Altimeter), perhaps as a pointer moving around the outside or a tape in landscape mode. But great as it is!
