為順時代的潮流，由小團結到大團結，沙巴亞庇部份林氏宗親早就有意籌組林氏宗親會，以便為境內外之林氏宗親提供聯絡，商情交換，感情交流之便利。於二ＯＯ四年十一月廿七日，林氏宗親；忠財，國英，新民，家強，新明，建勝，詩財，係友，志興，錦南及西金，於路陽布吉巴登皇子海上漁村餐廳聚首，商討籌組林氏宗親會事宜及成立籌備委員會，忠財為籌委會會長，新民為秘書及以上十一位發起人為沙巴亞庇林氏宗親會創會會員。忠財提議有經濟能力者分擔創會基金RM5,000.00，與會者無異接納之並委任新民負責起草章程及向社團註冊局申請註冊。籌備委員會成立之後，創會基金也籌夠了，新民逐著手起草章程，填寫註冊表格，呈交與註冊局。間中章程之起草，三易其稿，國文之翻譯，英文之草句和整理，以及尋求各籌委之撥冗聚集討論，都需要花費相當時間，其間，和社團註冊局書信來往等做出相應之修改，沙巴亞庇林氏宗親會終於於二ＯＯ五年四月六日收到社團註冊局來函，政府經已批准沙巴亞庇林氏宗親會之註冊申請。自此沙巴亞庇林氏宗親會將堂堂正正地和其他宗親會一起共同努力為沙巴宗親服務。
沙巴亞庇林氏宗親會自獲准註冊後，就開始廣招會員，並於二ＯＯ五年四月十七日上午於亞庇香格里拉餐廳舉行記者招待會，對外呼吁林氏宗親踴躍的加入。並於二ＯＯ六年正月十六日晚上假亞庇新海港海鮮樓舉行首屆理事就職典禮，邀請宗親拿督林華開為監誓嘉賓。
在會長拿督林忠財及各副會長的領導之下，沙巴亞庇林氏宗親會有了自己的會所和足夠的活動經費，為庇市數一數二的強大宗親會之一。近年來更與中國河南，福建，廣東及廣西宗親互相聯繫往來，建立了在中國大陸的林氏聯繫網，構成林氏宗親之間以後的貿易橋樑。
