Description

MTG Familiar is a powerful utility app for Magic: The Gathering.

The application includes a two-player life counter which tracks life, poison, and a history of changes.

The included die roller includes choices for D2, D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D20, and D100.

The mana pool and spell counter can keep track of your mana effortlessly, and is especially useful for all you Storm combo players out there.

The offline card search allows you to search for any card in the game without an internet connection. You can search by:
-Name
-Type / Subtype
-Ability Text
-Color
-Power / Toughness
-Converted Mana Cost
-Set / Format
-Rarity
-Flavor Text
-Artist

You can even check a card's legality for Block, Standard, Extended, Modern, Legacy, and Vintage.

If you do have an internet connection, the app can deliver real time prices, courtesy of TCGPlayer.com, download full card images, and link you to the card's official Gatherer page.

You can compare trades with current prices in the Trade Cards screen and keep a wishlist of cards you want to trade for.

Also included is a round timer, which will run in the background no matter what you do with your Android device.

The app has searchable, linked comprehensive rules built in, so you can settle rules disputes with ease. They are also self-updating!

This app is a free, open source project released under the GPL and Creative Commons licenses. You can get the source code, or join the team here: https://code.google.com/p/mtg-familiar/

This app is ad-free, and always will be! A must-have for any Magic the Gathering player!

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

4 ★Great app, that is easy to use most of the time. Occasionally doesn't search cards I cannot remember the name of, but can recall the wording and search by phrases/words. It does sometimes mess that up though, and when I do find the card the app reads the card differently than the actual printed version from the set. It might be due to reprints changing the wording on either side, but it does still happen. Would get a 5 star if it included other format filters such as the newer pioneer format.
4 ★This is a fantastic app for searching and deck building. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that you can't change the price source. Tcgplayer is fine for some but i would like to be able to change the site to say starcity so that when i price out a deck i can get an accurate picture. Otherwise I do really enjoy the app and have for a long time
5 ★By far the most-used app on my phone (not counting social media). Deckbuilder, card search, life counter and die rolls are all simple to use and have all the necessary functions. The card trader/pricer and the comprehensive rules get used less by me but are still helpful when needed. The app comes with an adjustable homescreen widget so you can quickly access only those features that you frequently use and the dev is active on github and promptly responds to any bug reports / suggestions.
5 ★Occasional bugs, but usually fixed within a few weeks. Small price to pay for a free app with no ads that has steadily gained features over the years. Love how I can build decks offline and how not storing card images locally makes the file size for the app very reasonable.
4 ★This app very comprensive and user friendly. Functions include (but not limited to): -An advanced seach that feels comparable to the Gatherer website. -A trade function (and pricing at large) that is connected to the TCG Player website (can change the pricing). -A deck builder feature. Only real issue I have with this app is as follows: -When I open the app, all of the sets have to load. I cannot search for cards or change a card's printing until all sets are loaded.
5 ★This app has been a tremendous help from when I began to play Magic in 2014 to having become the tournament organiser/judge for my LGS in 2019 and onwards. Just invaluable utility and usability. I don't normally update apps when I've found a stable version that works, but this latest version had the option to disable online-only cards. Perfect.
2 ★I have been using this app for years and it has been the best MTG search engine available. Unfortunately, recent updates have broken it for me. The check card price and rulings function no longer work, and the mana symbols no longer show up when I am selecting my search criteria. All that would be alright with me, but the worst part is that card images are no longer showing. This has made the app a lot less usable for me, and I now have to use Scryfall if I want to view card images.
4 ★I really like the app in general and have been using it for years! But lately the app updates every single time I open it, like it's downloading all the card info from all sets. Every time. And it takes forever! So that's made the experience a little worse.
1 ★Edit, revised review. I'm not sure what you did to it, but you've taken an incredible good app and completely ruined it. EA would be proud of what you've done to it. It's missing many cards, crashes more than half the time you try search a card, and generally is useless. I'm baffled and disappointed.
3 ★It's okay. It's been experiencing some issues getting data from the servers. I also wish there was a way you could add tap symbols or mana symbols to the search criteria. For instance, how would you search for only cards that give you generic mana? Or how would you search for creatures that have the untap symbol?
5 ★Easily the best MTG companion app out there. Ive been using it for years. No feature bloat, perfect performance, intuitive UI, perfect 10s all the way around.
5 ★I've used the app for years, absolutely fantastic. However I recently recognized that I can no longer save photos from card images. The message says "unable to save image, please try again". My app settings haven't changed.
