屹立於新北市新莊一甲子的台灣盲人重建院，經歷過經濟起飛、輝煌及泡沫年代，至今嘉惠過上萬位視障者及其家屬，更是國內歷史最悠久的慈善公益團體之一。院內的視障者來自全國各地，原本都與你我一樣看得到多彩美麗的世界，卻因為生病、車禍、意外等原因，造成視力損傷，進而無法自理生活。心靈受到極大的衝擊及創傷，這群人稱之為中途視障者，根據內政部的統計，其比例已占全國視障總數的88%其並以每年超過一千多名中途視障者的速度在增加。
本院為了協助視障者走出黑暗照常生活，避免其自暴自棄，導致家庭破碎或走上絕路一途，所以致力於發展「生活重建」、「職業重建」、「視障社區大學」及「社區關懷活動」等，期盼能讓所有視障者擁有一個嶄新及光明的未來。
