Description

The SDDOT 511 mobile application provides real-time access to traveler information supplied by the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT). Maps depict current roadway conditions and the latest incident, construction, and restriction information on all Interstate, U.S., and State Routes. Forecasted road condition threats for the upcoming 24 hours are described in the road segment reports, and where there are such threats may be viewed on the map. The maps also indicate the location of roadside cameras and allow the user to view camera images. As the user moves through the highway network, the app keeps track of the user’s location on the map. SDDOT also maintains a Twitter feed accessible through the 511 mobile application's main menu. Finally, the mobile application links surrounding states' mobile applications and mobile websites.

2 ★Always freezes and doesn't load

3 ★The app keeps freezing when I open it, and then it's crashing every time I open the app. It shows no road conditions on the map. I have to force stop to make the app reset and work. The road conditions and cameras are accurate when I do get the app to work.

4 ★Ok app needs the road information updated more often. Be nice if there was push notifications for road closures like if I29/I90 shuts down do to weather or no travel advised issued on roads. Another thing that i would love to see is hazard weather alerts for the county/city i am travling in.

1 ★Wont do any thing. I deleted and reinstalled but nothing.

3 ★Using app a lot during the current flioding (June 2024). See info about closures but NO info on detours. Have to call 511 for details.

1 ★Was helping when it worked constantly. Now it continuely freezes and shut down. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times. With out any resolution. Uninstalled from this device. Next step is a check router. Try it on another device. Maybe the problem is with this device? App is Garbage. Waste of time.

1 ★Downloaded the app so I could give the SDDOT 511 a bad review. The app did not show that I-90 was snow covered & icy and the phone system system said the roads were dry. I'm a commercial truck driver who hauls explosives and had to pull off the road because conditions were unsafe for driving.

1 ★Used to update road conditions constantly. Now, the last time they update is typically 4pm. Guess what! Some people work nights! How the hell do 12 hours old road conditions help when the temperature dropped 20 degrees since then, and there's obviously ice on the road. It's not like DOT aren't driving throughout the night. And let's not forget that the conditions are accurate, maybe half the time. Tldr; you're better off looking out the window than opening the app.

1 ★Why can't the legends of be the same as every other states 511. South Dakota legend for road conditions is difficult to decipher compared to using 511 for Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and so on.
