1 ★Required a subscription to park on the street for 2 hours in Peterborough, had to add a minimum of $10 to pay the $2 parking fee. Now there's no way to cancel the subscription in-app. Can't find anything on the website about cancelling it either. Seriously considering just doing charge backs on my credit card to get it to stop. Don't bother with this app, it's worth the effort of going and finding change just to avoid installing it.
1 ★I am a musician. I can't run out to a parking meter to top up during a performance. I thought this app was a solution. I installed the app, paid $12 to get set up and ended up with a $25 parking ticket! An expensive day! Found out after paying that the automatic top up feature is not available in my province! Your session will expire if not available to babysit the app. The app is glichy and clunky....want my money back!
1 ★Disguised as a run-of-the-mill pay for parking app, Hotspot requires you set up a subsciption plan to use the service. The cheapest option is $2 / month, but there is no in-app way to cancel. On top of that, the minimum amount of funds you can add is $10, so your 15 minute stop ends up costing you $12 + tax. The only way to end your subscription is to delete your entire account, and upon doing so Hotspot keeps your balance. Such a scam.
1 ★This app never works. Last time I was on campus and needed to use it while running late for a meeting, it refused to work because I apparently needed to install updates to the latest version, even though I had just done that recently. Today, planning ahead, I went into the Play store in advance and installed suggested updates. Now the app won't even open, it just immediately crashes. Called tech support and it turns out it doesn't exist! Number goes to an unused voicemail inbox.
3 ★Very convenient, and easy to use, but there is no notification that my parking time expired so it's very easy to get a ticket. There is a handy ability to feed the meter, but again without a warning notification, the feature is a lot less useful than it could be. It'd also be nice if it would default to the correct parking zone based on GPS. The app is almost excellent, but a couple major hangups.
3 ★Clunky and unpolished. Although the app has improved with the last few updates the entire way the service works is still quite unreliable. I don't like punching in my number and not receiving notifications. I think there may be some sort of compatibility issue with Android 11 because of my old note 9 everything worked properly and I got my notifications but on my new Samsung S21 Ultra I don't get any notifications
1 ★This app is ridiculous. Set up was tedious. Not intuitive at all. Perhaps it was designed to be confusing intentionally to get more money out of us? Membership fees and 'wallets' for simple parking?!? I would not use this if I had a choice. Waste of time and a total money grab. Update: It gets worse. Tried to cancel my account. (Just realized the 'membership fee' is a recurring monthly charge with no opt-out) SURPRISE! Can't cancel independently. The only course of action is to email support.
2 ★App does work well for parking however you must attach a credit card for monthly fees to be able to use the app. That is fine.. however where this app is shady is in order to cancel your membership, you cannot do it in app. You must email them at their support email. It won't even allow you to remove your credit card as you must have one on file. Easy fix. Email support to cancel and change credit card to a prepaid Visa then remove your real credit details. Easy to pay, hard to cancel.
2 ★The app works, but barely. Had an issue after my parking expired where a dialog kept popping up, preventing me from doing anything. Overall the interface feels like it was thrown together in a day, but didn't have too much trouble navigating. Minimum required payment of 20$ to add credits without paying for a subscription is a bit annoying, especially if you don't park often (I live near my downtown, so I normally walk. On this particular day, I had a work emergency that required me to drive in)
1 ★My customer experience has been horrible, the interface is lacking many features. There is no support or contact info available if you are having issues with billing, I had to Google and lookup there phone number and I have left 2 messages on their voice mail and I have yet to get a feedback on the billing service issue on the app. There is no 2-way security authentication, I am not assured if my credit card information is secured. No email confirmation of purchase made, not enough room to leave
1 ★This app is absolute garbage. I am trying to use it to park but can't add any money. The add card function goes to the website and then it doesn't want to take the credit card. Also when you first start the app, they give you two options for plans. The cheaper one costs $2 per month and the more expensive one costs $20 per month. At the bottom on very small print is an option for one time use. Very tricky and to me not very ethical.
3 ★The app is nice looking and well laid out. The find your car is good for forgetful users. The refund feature is also a great way to save money on unused time. I am not a fan of the fact that you require a subscription to use the app, and this is not mentioned ANYWHERE until you go to load money. Technically this is not a free app. I do not feel comfortable that it remembers my credit card information. I do not see the steps they take to keep my information secure should their system be hacked. I would like to see a feature that allows me to email my purchase receipts.
