Description
Female MC Venomiss is not only a creator of music but also a fan of Hip Hop. She was born in Newark New Jersey and raised throughout Orange, East Orange and Montclair, New Jersey and even briefly in Queens New York.Her fascination with Hip Hop began at an early age of eight as her older cousins pursued a recording deal. Hip Hop was all around her as New Jersey had many hot artists at the time. She used to put on shows in the living room reciting every song that came on. She could probably beat anyone in a game of 90's Hip Hop trivia because of it!
Music became her bright spot during dark times in her life. She decided to pursue rapping herself at the age of 13 starting out in street battles and cyphers. By age 16, she was everywhere that Hip Hop was performing in small showcases, open mics , talent shows and battles. By age 17, she created a record label and even recruited talented artists from accross the country that both rapped and produced. She didn't have the means to make it happen at such a young age, but she had the vision!
By her teens and college days, she was making a name for herself by performing and battling and found some success online with over 40,000 page views and 20,000 downloads of her music. She won a few competitions while in College and headlined an event at the school as a aresult.
Although later dropping out of college, she attended William Paterson University in New Jersey she pursued studies in Marketing and Management as a means to help further her dream of being involved in the industry and one day successfully running her own label. College became too expensive for the poor family and she was forced to leave school to help support the family. However, Venomiss knew what she wanted for herself.
During her solo pursuits as a artist she was discovered by the Flamespittaz, an up and coming group in New Jersey. During a freestyle session at a train station in New York, Venomiss jumped in with a smooth verse and the trio hit it off instantly. They immedietly went to the studio.She went on to become their first lady.
The group disbanded several years later after recieving lots of attention and notariety for their hard-hitting lyrics and creativity. They remained good friends but were having some growing pains as a unit. She would go on to work with several groups throughout the years although never settling in with any one team like she did with Flamespittaz.
While working on music and promoting herself, Nick D'Urso, founder of HipHopDurso.com sought out Venomiss and asked her to work with the site as a blog contributor and she jumped at the chance to infuse the two things she loves the most; writing and hip hop. Now, Venomiss writes for several publications and websites while pursuing her own musical ventures. and promoting her brand.
Venomiss has worked hard to release her debut Independent release LP, Heiress Of The Echelon, and work towards building her new business in writing and journalism. amongst other ventures.
She has performed in front of crowds of 400 plus, she has recieved national and international attention, recieved support from DJ's and online radio stations and has even mot recently had her music played in Milan, Italy. Most recently, she has opened for Princess of Crime Mob and Vamp Life recording artist Militant.
In September of 2015, Venomiss was nominated for a New York Underground Music Award for Best Female Rapper of 2015.
Her greatest accomplishments are just around the corner.
