A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.
Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

2 ★Not very flexible for travel. Once you set your trip on the computer , there is no way to modify it on the ap. You have to go back to the computer. So this is not the ap for you if you want flexibility. For example you cannot add a new stop such as grocery store or a different town to visit on the ap. To me this makes the whole thing a fail as we tend to like flexibility during our travels. We always have our phone but not our laptop.
1 ★Badly needs the option to save data to SD instead of consuming internal storage. Downloaded maps are too big to put on internal storage. Fix this please. Edited 9/4/21: the most recent version of this app no longer works with RV trip wizard. Instead of letting me access my trips like it used to, it just gives me three splash screens saying how great the integration is. Apparently it's not so great since it's not available anymore. Why am I paying for this again?
1 ★Awkward, unintuitive. In the beginning, while on a trip, if i looked at other apps, it would kick me out so I'd have to always restart. Now, when I want to open a trip I've planned, i just get kicked out of the app. Customer support told me to uninstall and reinstall, did that. Still kicks me out. There's to much frustration associated with this app to use it.
1 ★This app runs great on my wife's iphone, but I installed it on my OnePlus 7 Pro Android phone and the app does not run smoothly at all. When I search for a Campground, and choose directions using the RV Friendly Directions, it seems to hang up for a while on the "Building Routes" screen. If I wait long enough it will complete that and show the map and the routes. When I click the Start button to start navigating, nothing happens for several minutes. Eventually it will show that it is calculating and appears to never finish. I had high hopes for the app , but on Android it is useless right now.
2 ★I'm under the 7-day free trial an already wasted a day. I was hoping that the GPS feature would take the place of the CoPilot app that I use. However, Copilot has more layers so that you can use it in "standard" mode, like a car or "RV" mode when traveling with your RV. However, with this app, I couldn't even see how to get the GPS started. I couldn't find how to down load my trips from RV Wizard. I was able to see a map with listed campgrounds on it, but no indication as to how to start navigating. This software needs more work. Update:06/24/2019 - I finally was able to download my trips from RVTW. I had to actually logout of the app and sign back in. Once I did this I could see my trips from RVTW. I also see there are three dots in the upper right corner after a trip is selected and there is where you will find the "Start directions to first Stop" option and that will take you into the navigator. for your trip. I still don't see a way of just using it as a generic GPS. So, I will give it an second star because it actually can interface with RVTW which is a plus compared to CoPilot. UPDATE: I eagerly await the Update.
1 ★It is a globestyle map (not flat map so you can't easily widen the map and scan ahead) that gives somewhat turn-by-turn directions (at .3 miles from the turn without exit names or which lane to be in) with routes to avoid low bridges (not low hanging electrical chords or tree-lined streets with low hanging branches). It's only good for checking routes for bridges you can fit under. No detour function so it reroutes to the same closed road you are attempting to avoid. Destination inaccurate.
1 ★App does not work. I try to click on a park, and it will not open. I contacted customer support, and was told to uninstall / reinstall the app. I did that and it still did not work. I again contacted them, and they never responded. Thanks... Update: The app started working and did great for a long time. After the latest update, it no long offers Google Maps as an alternative.
2 ★Dropping down to 2 stars from 3 stars. There has been no change to the absurdly unrealistic navigation ETA calculation in over 2 years. The ETA is way too long for smaller RVs. It doesn't appear that the RV specifications are taken into account in the navigation ETA calculation. With this navigation problem remaining unfixed this is a very expensive campground finder app.
2 ★Would be nice if the app connected to network. Having full service and 4g, the app won't connect. The map view is an annoyance unless you want to find a rv park every 1 mile of the road. I'm more interested in rest stops along my route and already know where my final destination park is. The filters will allow you to turn on and off futures like traffic, ratings, hook ups, etc. but you can't turn off rv parks. I will be canceling my 7 day trail.
3 ★The app is working for us as far as planning goes, but, unless I'm missing something (for which I have searched and cannot find a setting), I need to run Google maps on a second device so that I have audio direction prompting. These directions could really use a NORTH feature so that the map turns relative to the direction I'm traveling. *needs Audio* *needs North aspect*
1 ★Traveling across country for the first time, i thought this would be useful. I was wrong. I had more success locating RV Parks using a guidebook and Google. Then, when I went to disable billing to cancel my 7 day trial and avoid the $49 annual fee, the directions given to do that were worthless - I could not find a "Billing" page in the app or locate the subscription for RV Life in the Play store subscriptions. I emailed RV Life's support about a week ago and still haven't heard anything back.
1 ★DO NOT USE THE RV GPS ON THIS APP!!! In the short time that we have used the GPS on the app, several times it has led us away from our destination or has us get off the highway only to drive in circles. At one point, it took us off the highway, into a questionable residential area, to a dead end street. This has got to get fixed. The rigs that all we RVers drive can't afford to be led to places that cannot handle them. This can be very dangerous.
