1 ★This app most definitely does not have updated data. I found better deals on the websites of holiday parks and local councils for camping. The experiences are also outdated. There are better deals on other sources. The overall experience in the app is frustrating and cumbersome. Over time I realised the app serves no purpose and deleted it.
3 ★Great work with the new update. I'm just about to leave on trip so i updated the app and the map. Now its not working, it does not show anything in australia in offline mode. But somehow NZ offline maps works fine, even though i didn't even download that for offline. Update: after i downloaded the NZ offline maps, the AU offline maps worked fine. So I just have both on my phone at the moment, this way it seems to be working.
5 ★Been camping around NZ pretty much my whole life and I can't speak for the Australian side but I'm honestly pretty pissed that I'm only finding out about this app now. Already saved my ass trying to find a campsite in the Northern Hokianga, an area I've travelled through a good four or five times, and I've been using it for all of twenty minutes. Only way it could be better is if it was integrated with the DoC campsites and hiking trails database.
4 ★Have been using app for a few years now. Love that it is free. Easy to use. Unfortunately I have been finding a number of free and low cost camp areas in the NT which are not on Campermate. No big deal as it is easy to submit and always approved as long as you can provide an email address and contact phone number for the camp site.
4 ★This app is brilliant. We are making good use of it while travelling in New Zealand. But my one complaint is that the app still thinks I'm in Melbourne. I can't find any setting to change this, and location services are all on. A minor frustration, but a frustration nonetheless.
4 ★My ideas and suggestions for the app: - Have cloud synced profiles so people don't lose their saves - Allow custom pins to be added for personal location saves - Update the Openstreetmaps, since map is old and lots of roads missing - Bug: first tap on select map icon, the UI box pops up out of the screen area - Bug: returning to map tab, Gmap is default, not OSmap - Allow multi select/unselect filters - Integrate missing data from other apps into this one to make it the number one campers app
5 ★Couldn't have done our rental camper trip without this great app. We are touring NZ for 8 weeks and have used this app for every site. The comments added by users help in making the decision as to visit a site or not. I downloaded the off line map which means I can use the app even when I have not phone signal. I did try another popular app but found this one easier to use.
3 ★Ditch the full screen video ads and I'd give five stars. They turn a good app into something you swear at. The information is great, usability is OK - it could take some pointers from iOverlander: allow me to show more than one category at once (say, camp sites and dump stations), make offline maps run smoothly as others have said, show unique map icons for camp sites that are now closed. And for the love of God stop the video ads yelling at me about burger king, that's one-star obnoxious BS.
4 ★booking a holiday park through the app can be more expensive. it's cheaper to go direct to the holiday parks website and book direct. is it possible to disable the database update when there's no WiFi connection? I'm stuck at the front splash screen if I've manually disable data access for the app. it'll still hang at the screen where it's telling you that it's performing database update.
1 ★The information on the app is definitely not updated. Some of the closed sites are showing open and a lot of really good campsites are missing. The app is really hard to use. The search isn't function isn't very useful and maps are too busy to be useful.
1 ★CARD DETAILS STOLEN! DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING THROUGH THIS APP. app itself is useful but the link in the app is not secure. My card details got stolen after booking with the app. I haven't used my card anywhere else online and that's how I can pinpoint the source of stolen card to this app. Now I'm overseas travelling and camping with a locked card due to this. Pretty annoying and disappointing.
5 ★Very good app. Easy to use. I played about with the filters to get the display I want. Sometime I'll download the offline map. The offline map didn't work. This app is amazingly, inredibly useful. I travelled by campervan before campsite books or mobile 'phones. This app makes life so much easier. Thank you.
