Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

1 ★App "unable to connect to internet", while all other apps work fine, and I can connect via a web browser (on the same phone) just fine. Presumably using a different authentication mechanism when using the app vs. A web browser. Unhelpful failure message makes it impossible to troubleshoot. Also, all this time (years) later, Protect app still lacks features they abandoned in Unifi Video, which was a much better product.
3 ★Great app functionally, however, there was an update this month that changed the timeline from black background to white -- which makes any middle of the night viewing extremely jarring. The app should at least provide an option for white or black timeline based on user preference, or change it back to black altogether (worked just fine that way before...). If that were fixed, 5 star review.
3 ★Same issue as Chris. I removed remote access, app no longer finds controller and will only show a cloud key v2 and an nvr, neither of which I have. Aside from the huge delays getting the app to show the cameras when something happens (I hear a strange sound outside, etc) the app runs pretty well. At least until now when I can't even view the cameras anymore.
3 ★Causes an error with the speakers on the Samsung Note8. The problems are different every time until I force close the app. If I play music it will come through the ear piece instead of bluetooth, sometimes I will only get notifications through the ear piece. Everything goes back to normal once I force close this app though. Let me know if you want me to email logs.
2 ★VIBRATE cannot be turned off. Scroll through history, VIBRATE. Camera fails to roam to stronger AP after AP update is done. Have to reboot camera (cycle power). Notifications use the same setting for EVERYTHING. I don't want the same alert for motion detected, smart detection, device lost connectivity, DOORBELL etc. They need separate alerts, with their own alert profile. Cars pass by constantly, so I am forced to disable the sound alert.
5 ★I have had the cameras and app for a week and so far it works very good. The app works great no problems so far. Great day pics but needs a little more light at night. Pics are not to bad with no light at all but will be great with an added IR light. We live in the country and have no lights that we leave on at night. IR,s are not priced to bad, reviews and videos about them look great at night. I am installing the IRs tomorrow.
3 ★This was a 4 until last update that now requires to many permissions and metrics to be sent back to the company. I understand troubleshooting is a pain not knowing the other apps on a system or modifications to someones phone, but doing a blanket pull is not ok. Make it an option that is opted out by default. Then if the user has issues they can opt in for assistance. I also cpuld not find what 3rd party service they use as mention in the new accept text of the app.
5 ★Newest update worked after I uninstalled, reinstalled, and cleared cache and storage. I believe having 10 cameras turned to 4K view crashes the app as well. (which is what I had it turned to.. after clearing and deleting, it swapped all cams to 720p and everything is smooth.) Something needs to be built where you can only turn on x amount of cameras to 4k viewing if it is going to keep crashing your phone.
2 ★The app is super slow to start and rarely goes in lan direct mode, even though the cameras are on the same network as the phone. I have a metered internet in a rural area; this app chews through data for no good reason. In six months I've really grown to regret going with Ubiquiti considering how they force their cloud on us, and how unreliable and function limited their apps are. At least let me set user permissions for the cameras on the phone!
3 ★The Protect software suite from Ubiquiti seems like a great extension of their ecosystem if you're already using their Unifi wifi, however Protect is underbaked and undersupported for the price. There have been many occasions where I needed to access my cameras remotely and was unable to because the software is unreliable. Recently any attempt to "scrub" through the timeline crashes both the app and web application. I really like my Unifi equipment which makes Protect even more disappointing.
1 ★Broken! (We are certain this is a server side or firmware issue but Ubiquiti isn't fixing it fast enough) We installed our first Protect system for a client a few months ago and it has worked flawlessly until this recent system update. Now no one can connect to the system, CLIENT IS PISSED! Supposed to start another installation next week, that install and all future installations are on hold indefinitely. The whole point of switching to the Ubiquiti product was to eliminate connection problems
3 ★When it works - its fine. *just* fine. If at any point my androidTV device loses internet connection; this app will NOT reconnect. I have to manually log out of my account and back in. This is even on the same local network as my UDM Pro. This does not work for a set it and forget it camera feed. THe administrator should not have to be on site to log back in every time there is an internet connection issue (unfortunately too frequently despite *business class* service. Needs to have better options for selecting multi-camera layouts.
