1 ★09/15/19: Still a one star. If I could give it less, I would. Even with the newest updates, this app is buggy and problematic. Lacks Features - no scrolling through to a different section of the book, no locking the screen position (only at a per session level so I'm doing this every time I open the app/open a new book), no using volume to turn pages, accidentally hitting a word brings out hoghlight mode, which is annoying. Basically, an app with lackluster features. Disappointing.
1 ★Shockingly bad app! Doesn't hold bookmarks. Doesn't happily reload after not using it for a bit.... literally leave the app to check an incoming email and everything is lost. Harlequin - if you're listening - I'm so disappointed in your choice of reading app. It's actually painful to read a book on this app. Overdrive was soooo much better! Having to really think about a book purchase through Harlequin because it is such hard work to just read... I just want to read...please let me just read.
1 ★I still cannot open ebooks that I have purchased. I have emailed and tried to get in contact with support and have received no reply and the app still refuses to open the book. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I even made a second account and purchased the book again and still nothing. I am extremely dissapointed. This has been over a week now.
1 ★Still 1 star. Even with the 10/22/19 update, I never seem to meet my daily word/reading goal. This didn't become an issue until the 9/3/19 update. Since then, not only do I never "meet" my daily word/reading goal, but my word count often re-set to 0 during the day, and I have a ebook that can't be opened. If Harlequin is going to force us to use this app, the least Bookshout could do is make a reliable product. I never had this problem when we could download our direct-purchase Harlequin books.
1 ★Since the update in the middle of reading books it fails opening. It is annoying. With 2 books I had to finish reading on the internet. Reached out with feedback and received no response. Tried a different book and stopped for a while when I came back the book failed opening again. Disappointed at best. Writing review to warn users against updating.
1 ★Hands down the worst app I've encountered. Bought a Harper Collins book and was forced to use this farce of a reader. I can only read the first lines of each chapter... Any sort of interaction just switches to the next chapters top 5 lines. Completely useless. To top it off Harper-Collins say they won't refund digital books and offer no alternative reading experience. Ended up buyibg it again on Kobo and it works flawlessly. Stay away from this piece of Junk.
1 ★Can't even handle basic things a reader should do, like keeping my place when I close the app. UI is unintuitive, and I'm still not sure how highlighting and bookmarking are supposed to work. Does its own thing for screen orientation instead of using the built-in OS support, and so I'm constantly fighting it.
2 ★I like the reading rate part of tis app; but the "find your books" part of the app; is ridiculous. 1. the "category" choice doesn't seem to do anything. It certainly does not divide the books into the groups that Harlequin uses. 2. The worst problem; is the "author" choice for sorting books. We are taught in Elementary School that names are alphabetized by last name; first name. But the writers of BOOKSHOUT have chosen to alphabetize by 1st names. Which makes it very difficult to find my books
2 ★I hate using it but have too. Before Bookshout I had a good reading experience with overdrive. had no issues with it. but since I buy my ebooks from harlequin they switched to this app I am rethinking my decision to buy books from them in future. takes ages for the app to load books even if downloaded on system take ages to load or the app suddenly stops working. the app switches from landscape mode to portrait mode then go back to landscape with difficulty. it really spoils the reading fun.
1 ★I hate this new App that Harlequin has switched to. The app worked for 2 days and now everytime that I try to read one of my books rather new or old, I can't I keep getting this Error Message..."504 Gateway Time-out" I have tried on every deice that I have downloaded this app on and continue to get the same Error Message. Good thing that I didn't delete the Overdrive App from my Samsung Tablet at least I can read the old books that I purchased just not the new ones. 🤬🤔🤔👎
1 ★I ordered books from harlequin and download my ebook to my tablet. It open one time, but, if I closes the tablet for some reason , only to try to go back to read the book and now it states FAIL TO OPEN EPUB. I buy several books a month and only to have this happen. I never had this problem with OVERDRIVE. I am upset. . Hundred of dollars gone.
1 ★Keeps quitting and have to restart app. App gets moved to New location. Don't like new format. Have to keep going into filter to see my books. Hard to see the title of book you are reading. Change it back!!! Still a lousy app. Can't open older books. Can only open books that are on my device.
