1 ★I had the prior app, for which I paid a hefty lifetime subscription fee. They moved to a cloud model, and dropped Mobile support (which allowed users to remotely access their recordings on their PC) for all of us who had it with the old app, presumably in order to push users to the cloud subscription model. They have not responded to my email inquiring into the removal, despite claiming 24/7 technical support. Poor way to treat loyal customers.
5 ★For those that want to stream, but have the type of internet that doesn't really support it, whether due to speed or data limits, such as traditional satellite internet, this is a must have. When setting the playback at the source to HD and using the HD setting in the POC app, the resulting items are crystal clear. And no more buffering! And when it comes right down to it, the cost of the service is minimal. If you can catch a good credits sale, you can get them for as low as ten cents per, and ten cents for the ability to stream and keep a film or TV show is great in my book. I don't have a monthly plan, as I just make sure to download the item within the seven day time limit, but I'm sure the plans would be worth it for those who they would be an advantage to. Their support is also fantastic. The couple of times I have had an issue, which was due to the source, not POC, they've replaced the credits used, and quickly. I save the items to a USB external hard drive, then connect that to my Smart TV to watch them. My TV has a built in app to play MP4s. The only drawback is that I soon have to buy a new drive, as the 1TB drive I have is nearly full! LOL. I would definitely recommend POC.
5 ★Great app, and excellent support. I have used this app to download films to my device, so that I can watch the film when there is no connection. Any problem has been quickly resolved by excellent support. The only problem I have had is that doesn't always like VPN depending on source, easily remedied by disabling VPN for the app.
1 ★Please update your original PlayOn TV mobile app so Adobe Flash Player is no longer required. Also fix the mobile access on the PlayOn TV PC desktop client. I bought a lifetime license and nothing works anymore. I have no interest in the new Cloud version which offers me no remote access to my content which was my whole purpose in buy the software. You haven't updated your original app since 2016 though a bunch of people still rely on it...
4 ★I am writing this to update a previous review. In my previous review I stated that the app stopped working on my wi-fi connection. After some testing I was able to determine that the app still did work on my phone's native 4G connection, further isolating it to my wi-fi connectivity as an issue. I contacted support and after they reviewed the logs (automatically sent with the tech support request) they suggested that I restart my router/modem. I did so and that cleared the issue. The moral of the story is, they have top flight tech support and, it was an issue that I could have solved myself had I done a bit more basic troubleshooting.
2 ★Suddenly quit working on my LGK20v. won't connect to the cloud server. I will say that the support for this app is generally top shelf bit I haven't been able to make it work on this phone after multiple reinstall etc.
4 ★The user interface could use some work. It id's not intuitive. other than that PlayOn cloud does exactly what it is advertised to do.
5 ★Awesome app. Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Very user-friendly. And the dollar$/DLs can't be beaten. I got 365 DLs for $45.... Do the math, man.... This app just makes sense.
1 ★Bait and switch. Invest in a lifetime license for Playon desktop, and now the mobile client has been removed from both Apple and Google stores. This is unethical to try to force mobile users into Playon Cloud. Especially when the Playon Desktop windows server software itself currently tells you, and gives instructions that are not even possible anymore, to connect to an IOS or Google App with the MOBILE CLIENT.
