Description

Local Storage uses the new Storage Access Framework to allow other applications to read or write any file in your primary storage and read from secondary external storage devices (such as SD cards). On Android 5.0+ devices, you can also select entire directories and rename files.

Note that this app is not meant to be used by itself (although we do provide some sample queries), but to be used to enable other applications access to files they would normally not be able to see - you shouldn't ever need to actually open this app!

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

5 ★Useful on Chromebooks to expose larger parts of the Android tree to ChromeOS apps. Due to exposing the local tree through the documents provider API, the tree appears in ChromeOS's Files app. The filesystem appears to be writable, too.
1 ★Not useful Sorry Ian but I can see no use for your app. Your app gave me the impression that I could use it in conjunction with another storage app, but if I can only read but NOT WRITE to external storage, WHAT IS THE POINT OF YOUR APP? I have now found that ES File Explorer can copy files from internal to external storage. Please let me know if I have misunderstood something.
4 ★i have a big problem whit documents ui (storage provider) ... it can't show me the internal and external storage ... with this app , i can see external storage, but still can't see internal / cyanogenmod 12.1
5 ★On my Lenovo p1m with Lollipop I could never choose SD card as location to save files (for example open camera) because in the screen of the storage access framework the three dots in the right upper corner were just not there ( the "file picker"). Only built-in apps worked, example the standard camera). This app fixed it, now I can choose sdcard to save files! Thank you!!!
1 ★here is a clue, 40 downloads... must be great.
5 ★Can't upload anything to Chrome, not because of this app but because of some bug with this new storage access framework was hoping your app would fix that.
3 ★At first I thought this was an app to grant access to non-SAP enabled apps but NO... still stuck with only option being rooting
1 ★Sucked. sorry but it didn't work
1 ★I installed this to access external sd, but this app cannot.
