5 ★Love the app! Was a long time Avanti/Virgin app user but then they changed to a worse new system, so I switched to this, ironically, because it's the old design. Easy, simple, straightforward, always get the best price. Highly recommend :)

1 ★Doesn't let you collect the tickets
4 ★I like this app, it's more straightforward than the competition. It is, however, a bad app in Android's standards, riddled with bugs. A very annoying one is that, if you change the hour or minute on the Arrive/Depart section, it's impossible to change it back to the current hour or minute in a subsequent search. It's been there ever since the dreadful redesign and I'm almost entertained to find out every time there is an update that it is still not fixed!
4 ★Haven't had any difficulty so far accessing tickets when I need them, even without an Internet connection (providing I downloaded in advance of travel). Things that would improve the app: 1. Being able to buy tickets for several journeys without having to pay for each one separately 2. Being able to see where on the train my reserved seats are and change them - important when travelling as a family 3. Give info on how to get a refund. I had to visit website to find out phone no to ring!
2 ★If you have to use an e-Ticket App then this is possibly the one to use because it's not as bad as the others I've tried. That is about as positive I can get about it. The problem seems to be that all Rail Ticket Apps try to almost be too helpful which means that buying basic "I don't know exactly what time" tickets involves going through several pages choosing journey times to reserve seats on journeys you end up not making. You then have to make sure you're not buy Advance tickets.
1 ★Charging double the price, just checked the time for my trip from Manchester to York for next week, price being asked for £61.00, the ticket I have in my hand today was £30.50. Checked using the Avanti app fare quoted £30.50. Be aware, the only reason I caught it was because I travel the route once a week so I know the fare. The price is correct on the Cross Country Trains web site using a laptop. This is naughty and will catch people who do not travel regularly.

5 ★I really don't understand the bad reviews. I am a 55 year old female with a dislike of apps and mobile phones, but I love the cross country app. It's quick, efficient and there is joy to be had from having tickets pop into my ticket wallet so quickly. I book tickets using it about once a week for work and non work travel.
2 ★Without doubt the most frustrating app on my phone. I use it 5 days a week. Buying tickets is fine. However, displaying tickets for train managers is an incredible faff. This can take up to NINE taps on the screen and each one prompts a spinning circle and an average wait of 10 seconds! Try explaining THAT to a busy ticket inspector!
2 ★The main issue here is that the app requires an internet connection to produce tickets you have already purchased. Not every cross-country train manager is understanding when you can't produce a ticket because the train is in a blackspot. Telling them that this is a limitation of the functionality of their own app doesn't seem to make them any happier.
