大二結社區位於台九線與蘭陽溪交會點南岸，隸屬宜蘭縣五結鄉的二結、鎮安、三興等三村。大二結社區面積大約2kmx 1.5km，地形平緩，人口約八千多人，人口大部分集中在新舊台九省道之間及舊街路兩側。地理位置介於南北兩大市鎮中心(宜蘭市及羅東鎮)，屬郊野型農村社區。在二結，由於兩種主要通路恰好交會於此，一為帶動社會經濟、活動的發展台九省道，一為蓬勃生態的蘭陽溪，於是二結自古扮演了連結商業、人文及自然的驛站角色。大二結的特殊人文環境，帶動了近幾年來大二結的文化活動，致社區總體營造的蓬勃發展。自民國82年初的二結王公廟新廟規畫開始，一連串的文化活動與社區營造，得到各方以「二結傳奇」或「二結奇蹟」加以肯定，及二結人對地方的認同。以二結地區特有的地理、人文、產業、歷史及文化活動為主軸的文化社區概念，即是整合過去經歷或進行中的社區發展建設與二結豐富的文化活動，並融入學校教育及社區學習，進而推動地方文化保存的發展。
