How to install Text Detective APK on Android phone or tablet?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

2 ★First of all, it doesn't work. I have a note 3 and every time I scan, it comes out all gibberish, EVERY TIME. Second, this app didn't take any consideration from people that are hard of seeing. Why would you make the app scan in lanscape only? When taking the picture, at least have it be able to zoom in and easy to navigate so we can actually see and read the text. It's nice that you try to make it READ, but it's not working. Besides, it's not an app for the totally blind because they wouldn't be able to take the picture in the first place. This app is for people that are having a hard time reading small text and it should at least let you zoom in a picture to see text. In fact, that's what I have been doing except it's difficult to take a picture, click on gallery and see text. I can always have auto preview on, but thought this app would make it easy. This is not the case, the app has terrible OCR. 3/19/14 So I update the software. It improved a little, but still a long way to go before being usable.
