A Rádio Difusora Santarritense teve a primeira transmissão oficial no dia 12 de março de 1947 por meio da voz do jornalista Ruy Brandão que deu início a uma das rádios mais tradicionais do país.Outras transmissões haviam sido realizadas por Ruy Brandão antes dessa data só que de forma amadora.A paixão pela radiodifusão de Ruy Brandão e os trabalhos prestados à sociedade conferiram a ele o “Diploma da Medalha Ordem Mérito Legislativo” no ano de 2002 pela Assembleia Legislativa de Minas Gerais.
A Rádio Difusora Santarritense acompanhou de perto o desenvolvimento de Santa Rita do Sapucaí e contribuiu para a democracia e liberdade da população, sempre dando voz as parcelas menos favorecidas da população e tratando o ouvinte com ética e respeito. O sonho de Ruy Brandão não terminou com a fundação da Rádio Difusora Santarritense AM, o jornalista queria mais e começou a perseguir a concessão de uma emissora de rádio FM que foi conseguida no final de década de 80 e deu origem a D2 FM que por sua vez também tornou-se referência.
