Description

The Audubon Bird Guide is a free and complete field guide to over 800 species of North American birds, right in your pocket. Built for all experience levels, it will help you identify the birds around you, keep track of the birds you've seen, and get outside to find new birds near you.

With over 2 million downloads to date, it is one of the best and most trusted field guides for North American birds.

NOTE:

Thank you to all our users for the feedback on the new update. We'll be incorporating many of your feature suggestions and fixes in the next few updates. We very much appreciate your help and support.

Based on your feedback, we're currently working on the following issues:
- Restoration of user-created sighting lists. These lists were safely migrated with your account, but an issue is preventing them from being displayed. These will be restored soon in a future update, without any action required on your part.

- The ability to sort species alphabetically by last name in the field guide.

- Improved performance when searching and browsing lists of species, including the ability to quickly jump to a letter of the alphabet.

- Usability improvements, including photo and map display issues, for tablet users

- The ability to access the field guide, nearby eBird sightings, and other app features that don't require user-submitted data without first creating an account

- Other assorted usability and stability fixes

As always, if you need help with the app, or have a suggestion for a new feature, please contact us directly at audubonconnect@audubon.org. Thanks!

KEY FEATURES:

ALL-NEW: BIRD ID
It's now easier than ever to identify a bird you just saw. Enter all you were able to observe—what color was it? How big? What did its tail look like?—and Bird ID will narrow down a list of possible matches for your location and date in real time.

LEARN ABOUT THE BIRDS YOU LOVE
Our field guide features over 3,000 photos, over eight hours of audio clips of songs and calls, multi-season range maps, and in-depth text by leading North American bird expert Kenn Kaufman.

KEEP TRACK OF ALL THE BIRDS YOU SEE
With our completely redesigned Sightings feature, you can keep a record of every bird you encounter, whether you're hiking, sitting on the porch, or simply catching a glimpse of birds out the window. We'll even keep an updated life list for you.

EXPLORE THE BIRDS AROUND YOU
See where the birds are with nearby birding hotspots and real-time sightings from eBird.

SHARE PHOTOS OF THE BIRDS YOU'VE SEEN
Post your photos to the Photo Feed so other Audubon Bird Guide users can see.

GET INVOLVED WITH AUDUBON
Keep up with the latest news from the world of birds, science, and conservation, right on the home screen. Find an Audubon location near you to go birding. Or see where your voice is needed and take action to protect birds and the places they need, right from your app.

FOR OUR EXISTING USERS:
Once you log in with your NatureShare account, your sightings and photos will migrate with you into the new app. If something doesn't look right, don't worry—all of your data is untouched, safe, and secure.

Note: While we work on migrating all of our users' data to the new app, we have temporarily disabled some of the app's community features. In the next few updates, we'll be restoring and adding new features that make it easy and fun to share and view the photos taken by other Audubon Bird Guide users around the country. Stay tuned!

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

4 ★Things are better than Merlin: More info about each bird If you know what bird you saw you can search it and add it where on Merlin you can't add from a bird's info page, but have to go through the whole ID process The ability to see what birds other people have recently seen in your area Easier to read and edit your life list Things that Merlin does better: Picture ID Has more than just North America Although Audubon has more advantages than Merlin, Merlin's are critical. I'm keeping both.
3 ★Some issues with functionality hamper this app. 'Add another sighting' choice doesn't drop you into the sighting area, searching for "cardinal" comes up empty and only finds the bird if you search on "northern". Would like bird search to limit selection based on my current location.
5 ★The BEST (free) bird app out there, and I've literally tried them all. Audubon has every bird in the U.S. in their "inventory" - unlike some bird apps (i.e. Merlin)... Relatively easy to use. You can identify birds by color & size etc (though this search could use some tweaking), upload your own photos & keep track of all the birds you've seen! Their field guide is excellent - migratory patterns, sounds, pictures, diet, habitat, etc. Overall, 5/5 stars hands down. I'd highly recommend this app.
2 ★Not ready for prime time. The location portion of sightings is broken, re-assigning the location to wherever when saved. The front home screen always shows 0 sightings 0 etc. This app needs system testing to work out the bugs ( there are more, but the location thing is the worst, renders the app inaccurate and therefore useless.
4 ★Love the app! However what I really need is a great bird quiz app, specifically for the songs. I want to be able to create a custom quiz with all the birds in my area to train my ear to recognize all their calls. I know it'd be basically a whole new app of development, but this app has all the bird calls already--I'd be a great library to pull from!
5 ★Love the app! I used to be a big fan of the Audubon field guides when I was younger. Now this app has the guides, bird identification, and bird sighting logging all in one! Perfect for anyone interested in bird watching.
4 ★Really enjoying this app so far, I just wish it would let me add photos to sightings! The option is there, but when I try to upload them they never go through!
4 ★Love the app. Very helpful with identifying birds. I wish you could document sighting on the website too. Would make it easier when uploading pro camera shots to sightings.
5 ★It does exactly what it says it does, and it does it very well. Audubon is continuing their tradition of excellence.
5 ★Love this app. I use it near daily and it is invaluable to my bird watching needs.
5 ★I hope to be able to identify birds by song and also record their song in my sightings
1 ★Latest update displays my PASSWORD as my username. Not secure at all.
