Description
The Lakes Edward and Albert Fisheries Information Management System (LEA-FIMS)is a centralized system for fisheries data collection, storage, analysis and retrieval. The LEA FIMS is used to collect data from the two Great African Lakes of Albert and Edward which are shared between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Uganda. Both lakes are very rich in fisheries and other related natural resources and play a very important social, economic and environmental role in both countries. Proper fisheries management of both lakes requires adequate and reliable information for managers to guide responsible decisions for its optimal utilization. This LEA FIMS was developed with support from the LEAF II Project, and is a reliable and user-friendly system that can be manipulated in both French and English.

Le Système de Gestion d' INFORMATIONS sur les Pêches des lacs Edouard et Albert (SGIP-LEA) est un système de collecte, de stockage, d'analyse et d’exploitation des données sur les pêches. Le SGIP-LEA est utilisé pour collecter des données sur les deux Grands Lacs africains d'Albert et d'Edward qui sont partagées entre la République Démocratique du Congo et la République d'Ouganda. Les deux lacs sont très riches en ressources halieutiques et autres ressources naturelles connexes et jouent un rôle social, économique et environnemental très important dans les deux pays. Une bonne gestion des pêches de ces deux lacs nécessite des informations adéquates et fiables pour que les gestionnaires puissent orienter les décisions responsables pour une utilisation rationnelle. Ce SGIP-LEA a été développé avec le soutien du projet LEAF II et c’est un système fiable et convivial qui peut être manipulé en français et en anglais.
