SuelosCR es una aplicación que permite acceder a información clave sobre el recurso suelo de Costa Rica con un enfoque agrícola. La aplicación consta de dos componentes, el primero es la visualización de la clasificación de suelos con el sistema USDA o sistema norteamericano, el cual es el más utilizado en Costa Rica a través del mapa del país y el segundo componente es la consulta del grado de fertilidad de los suelos por cantón.Con esta aplicación se pretende ayudar al personal técnico y profesionales en agronomía y áreas afines, así como agricultores interesados a la toma de decisiones. Además de proveer información para el sector agrícola, también es de utilidad para profesionales enfocados en la realización de estudios detallados de suelos de diferente naturaleza, incluyendo para uso conforme (estipulados en la Ley 7779 "Uso, manejo y conservación de suelos"). SuelosCR está diseñado para que trabaje con el GPS de los aparatos móviles, por lo que las bases de datos no dependerán en primera instancia de la conexión de internet.
La aplicación fue concebida por el Centro de Investigaciones de la Universidad de Costa Rica y está basada en una cantidad robusta de datos, muchos de ellos generados en la UCR y otros provistos por otras instituciones y entidades nacionales colaboradoras.
