Esta app forma parte del Proyecto UR que está inspirado en tres realidades, la red de senderos europeos ya existentes y su importancia en el fomento de la actividad deportiva y los hábitos saludables, la creciente importancia de la implantación, intercambio y difusión de políticas y planes de acción en materia de sostenibilidad ambiental en el ámbito universitario europeo y, por último, el uso y desarrollo de infraestructuras y aplicaciones, cada vez más imprescindibles, basadas en las Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (TICs).El Proyecto UR es una iniciativa, que bajo el lema Unidos por la Cultura y el Conocimiento, tiene como objetivos: fomentar el intercambio cultural, en su sentido más amplio, entre los miembros de la comunidad universitaria europea, y difundir las políticas universitarias en todos los ámbitos relacionados con la sostenibilidad ambiental: docencia, investigación, innovación y transferencia de tecnología, voluntariado y cooperación, y planificación, gestión y evaluación ambiental, mediante el desarrollo de infraestructuras y aplicaciones basadas en las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones.
La app supone el desarrollo a nivel local, dentro de la ciudad de Cartagena de estas iniciativas. Diseñada para operar con ella de un modo sencillo e intuitivo, servirá de guía para realizar una actividad física saludable en el entorno de las instalaciones de la Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT), permitirá llevar un control de la actividad realizada y compartir la información con otros. También será posible planificar recorridos con una finalidad distinta, orientada al turismo, conociendo así la historia de los edificios de la UPCT.
