Оскільки ні Христос, ні апостоли, не залишили конкретних вказівок щодо способу щоденної молитви, активні християни, керовані Духом Святим, створювали різні системи молитовних практик і текстів.Одним із них був преподобний Олександр Акиміт. Розпочавши свій духовний шлях у палестинських монастирях, у своєму особистому молитовному житті він пройшов три етапи інтенсивності щоденної молитви від чотирьох "апостольських" часів зранку, під вечір, опівдні і опівночі, через збільшення їх до семи впродовж дня і семи впродовж ночі аж до щогодинної молитви впродовж усієї доби.
У цьому додатку втілено спробу допомогти тим, хто хотів би ступити на дорогу щоденної молитви.
Відповідно до історії молитовного життя преп. Олександра, тут є запропоновано три схеми щоденної молитви - чотири, чотирнадцять і двадцять чотири молитовних часи відповідно. Ви можете обрати один із них, який найбільше відповідає ритму Вашого молитовного життя.
З огляду на зміст молитов часослов 24-х часів найкраще відповідає періодам постів. Інші часослови, натомість, пасують краще для звичайного літургійного часу.
Молитись всі часи поспіль не обов'язково, часослови працюють так, щоб дати можливість помолитись о тій порі, яка буде зручною для вас. Найважливіше у молитві не її кількість і інтенсивність, а якість.
