يوم عاشوراء هو اليوم الذي قتل فيه الحسين بن علي. الحسين هو قائد ثوري قتل في معركة كربلاء . و يحيي يوم عاشوراء الملايين حول العالم ليتذكروا موقف الامام الحسين الشجاع من أجل العدالة الاجتماعية ، ضد طاغية فاسدة يدعى يزيد.تاريخ عاشوراء
وكان الحسين بن علي حفيد النبي محمد ( آخر نبي في الإسلام )، ولد الحسين ابن علي في السنة ال620م لعائلة اشتهرت القيم من الحب والشرف و السلام . وكان الحسين زعيما معروفا بالرحمة والحكمة و النزاهة. لم يمض الكثير على رحيل محمد حتى عاث الفساد السياسي و الاجتماعي في الأمة الاسلامية تحت حكم الظالم يزيد من بني أمية.
أمر يزيد الحسين بمبايعته وإعطائه الشرعية في حكمه. رفض الحسين مبايعة يزيد لأنه يعيث الفساد في الأمة و يظلم الناس و يضطهدهم و لا يطاوعه ضميره اعطاء ولائه لحاكم كهذا حتى لو كلفه الأمر حياته.
اختار الحسين اتخاذ موقف ، و بدأت الانتفاضة الصغيرة – ترك مدينته رافضا المبايعة ليبدأ رحلته شرقا نحو العراق. سافر حسين مع عائلته و ٧٢ من رفاقه موضحا أنه لا يريد العنف ، ولكن كان على استعداد كامل للدفاع عن نفسه و يضحي بكل ما يملك لخير شعبه .
وصل خبر رحيل الحسين الى يزيد الذي أمر بارسال جيشا من ٣٠،٠٠٠ لوقف الحسين وأنصاره عن مسارهم خوفا من أن تكتسب ثورتهم زخما. منع جيش يزيد الحسين من الرحيل الا اذا تعهد بالولاء ليزيد ، لكن الحسين قاوم . فأمر يزيد جيشه بمهاجمة وقتل الحسين وأنصاره ، و حصل ذلك في اليوم العاشر من شهر محرم والذي يعرف باسم يوم عاشوراء.
