1 ★I am a huge fan of the NHK World channel. I live in the UK and stream it using a 100Mbps fibre broadband connection and cast it to my TV. However the video quality is extremely poor. What a shame! The content production unit must be extremely effective to produce such interesting content. However the team responsible for maintaining the stream quality seems to be doing an extremely shoddy job. I urge the team at NHK to please do better in true Japanese style :) and i will change my rating.
1 ★1) The app won't work if it's not the active window. Please allow me to lock my screen and still hear audio. 2) The low quality option is missing. It seems the app automatically detects bandwidth and choses for me. This causes connection errors for a while. Please put quality choices back 3) please add an option for audio only 4) there are many connection errors during playback. Please fix! I used to love this app
2 ★I used to love watching NHK through the app. the latest update is terrible, it will not allow other apps to be open at the same time as it used to. The app format is not user friendly. Please change it back the way it was if you cannot find a way to improve this app. Unfortunately, I have to uninstall because I cannot use it while other apps are open on my chromebook.
4 ★Works great, but problem with news. I have been watching NHK for years. It was always the best quality of video. It did go down in quality for a while. It is better again. But I do miss seeing Kanako Sachno, what happened to her? Bring her back. And please show more of Marie Yanaka. Both are class acts and make watching the news more enjoyable. Do this, and I rate 5 stars.
5 ★Wish I could download on demand videos... Neither the app nor the website video player likes spotty internet; which makes watching videos a case of constant refreshing...
4 ★I have enjoyed this app tremendously. It helps me stay in touch with the Japanese community. The programming has drastically changed since the Corona Virus invaded Japan.
5 ★First off, unlike many apps, this one actually works and does what it says it does. Secondly, the programming is terrific, and there are no stupid restrictions on viewing. Not all programs are available "on-demand", but most are. Good perspective on news you won't get off U.S. stations, cooking shows, Sumo highlights, and general introduction to Japanese language and culture. I'll say it again, terrific.
5 ★The NHK world channel has been taken out from my rented satellite dish provider. Happy to find this on android. Will test it if it works on chromecast.
2 ★I absolutely love NHK news and their shows. However, since their update a few months ago, I'm unable to cast to my TV via Chromcast, which is so unfortunate. I would be watching so much more if I was still able to cast. My initial review before the change would be absolutely 5 stars. But since the update, I can only give 2. I can't watch as often, because without the chromecast feature, my battery on my phone drains substantially faster than with casting. Please fix so we can cast again!
5 ★It's great app but it but the Roku 1 and similar need a button built in so you can turn off the subtitles if you accidentally turn them on
3 ★I only want to watch Lunch On and Somewhere Street, both of which must be streamed live. Please add features to set show alarms which can activate for each screening with more than a 3 minute timer. I always miss them. 3 minutes isn't enough to prepare for the shows. On Demand shows are great.
4 ★The app is stable and reliable, but search could be improved. Also, why are there no Pythagoras Switch uploads? #ReleaseTheBrushnodon
