Este aplicativo é resultado do Programa Bioinsumos do Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento (Mapa) que busca consolidar um Catálogo Nacional de Bioinsumos para facilitar e promover o acesso à informação sobre os produtos disponíveis para uso e onde encontrá-los.Foi desenvolvido em parceria com a Embrapa Informática Agropecuária, e em sua primeira versão, apresenta apenas informações sobre os inoculantes e os produtos para controle de pragas, registrados, que estão dentro do conceito de bioinsumos para a agricultura orgânica e outros sistemas produtivos. Novas funcionalidades e dados serão adicionados em outras versões.
Os bioinsumos são de origem vegetal, animal ou microbiana e se destinam ao uso na produção, no armazenamento e no beneficiamento de produtos agropecuários, e tem efeito positivo no crescimento, no desenvolvimento e no mecanismo de resposta de animais, de plantas, de macro e de microrganismos e de substâncias derivadas.
