Davant la datificació de la nostra identitat, cal avançar en la democratització tant de l’accés a la informació pública com, sobretot, del repertori tècnic i els principis teòrics amb què aquesta es pot gestionar de manera fiable i sostenible en el temps, per tal de convertir l’arxiu en una eina imprescindible d’apoderament cívic en el marc d’una democràcia participativa real.
Així doncs, hem de pensar els arxius no tant com a serveis, sinó com a comunitats. Comunitats d’arxiu, a dos nivells. Un primer, com a comunitats de pràctica: grups de professionals (arxivers, enginyers, periodistes de dades, humanitats digitals) que avancin en l’ús de tecnologies semàntiques, machine learning o dataviz per al tractament i l’explotació de dades massives. I un segon nivell, el de comunitat cívica. Els arxius han d’obrir-se a tothom, seguint models i projectes arxivístics que han demostrat la viabilitat de la gestió documental participativa. La comunitat d’arxiu, en resum, com el marc social de reapropiació de poder polític per part de la ciutadania a través d’una relació fiable amb la informació.
