Sanggar Tari TARUNG PIO pada awalnya hanyalah merupakan sekelompok anak-anak SMP Negeri 1 Murung dibawah bimbingan seorang pemuda yang dianggap senior dan orang tua angkat (Guru) anak-anak tersebut. Tokoh pemuda itu adalah Dedy Irawan. Sejak didirikan kelompok itu beliau bergerak dalam seni tari dan Teater. Dibawah pimpinan Asmarawati , mereka mulai mencoba menggarap sebuah Karya Tari yang berjudul Tarung Pio Inan Dulun Ongko ( Kabar Baik untuk Orang Tua), yang dipentaskan disebuah forum perpisahan. Pementasan yang didukung oleh 20 orang penari itu membuahkan hasil yang memuaskan, bahkan dapat dikatakan sukses. Bagi Dedy Irawan sendiri pementasan itu merupakan awal kegemilangan seorang penari dan sekaligus penata tari muda.Setelah mereka lulus SMP, kegiatan seni tari yang Dedy pimpin semakin berkembang. Bahkan banyak dari mereka adalah anak-anak TK dan SD yang ikut bergabung dalam kegiatan seni tari tersebut. Adapun seni tari yang diajarkan adalah hasil kreasi dari Dedy dan temannya Ganesha.
